Support Decks Awash and Radio Transmissions

Running Wolves of Steel, I am aware that you cannot use your binoculars when running decks awash but can you man your flak guns? Also do your watch crew still report on visible targets including aircraft?

As I am here, one more question. Can the enemy detect my radio transmissions and will they send aircraft?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure about the first question, but it should be easy enough to test: load up a single mission and see ("Japanese Fleet" has aircraft overflying you within minute from the start).

As for second question, there is a "Radio Direction Finder" type of sensor in game, so yes, enemy should be able to detect your transmissions and with IRAI (which is included in TWoS) they can vector aircraft and warships towards you. As to which enemies use this type of sensor though, I have no idea.

Thanks for the reply. I discovered I could not use my flak guns decks awash which is a pity.

Its good practice to submerge after sending messages especially when within aircraft patrol zones ( overlapping much worse ) crew spots them most of the time but often too late. Flak guns inoperable as you say with decks awash even on the conning tower its been discussed many times. The Binos /scopes/sensor guns etc are all linked to the same " mathematical waterline" unfortunately
All fair questions asked many times before in the past maybe addressed somehow in the future
