Default The Air Gun Thread

Let's talk about AG's only here.
I have several. Each is designed and used differently.
My main AG is a Hatsan 125 Sniper in .25 cal.
It is deadly at 70 yards zero punching through a plastic 5 gallon bucket!
Next is my 1322 in .22 cal.
Good for out to maybe 40 yards.
My pride and joy is the SMG 22.
Belt fed, full auto, SubMachine Gun that is crazy accurate out to about 50 yards!
Nice thing is they are cheap to fire as ammo is cheap and easy to get.
And I don't need to register them.

I respect the Laws and also practice safe shooting here at home.
If any of the neighbors are out and about?
I don't shoot. Even though I know they are not in my line of fire and I have a very safe fire zone.

I'm not into them, but my son was. I was amazed at the quality of reproductions. I even got tommy gun, look and felt real. My sons fav was a SAW, fired electric and could really put them out. They didn't have anything as powerful as you, but those plastic bb's still hurt. His friends geared up and had wars with each other, now he;s into paint ball guns.

He had Airsoft stuff. Never did that myself but I know Dan is a big Airsoft Dude over in Romainia.

My SMG 22 is based on the Tippmann 98 Paintball Gun. Just a brilliant design change with minimal changes to tooling.

For those not involved in AG's? They are not the AG's from the old days like 1920's - 1990's.

Ask people like Jimbuna about what they have to do to own AG's that shoot at what We do here in the U.S.A.

(Air Guns are part of the Olympics incase anyone didn't know that.)

I'd think that would be OK. It falls under AG's in many respects.
If you check out the SMG 22? It is a Tippmann paintball gun with design changes.
It uses the same fittings and stuff to hook in whatever you use as the propellent.
CO2, HPA, Nitrogen.

There's also propane powered Airsoft guns out there.

So for hunting the North American piece of paper, would you recommend .22 or .17?

I have been dreaming of getting a nice target air pistol for years. Sounds like a nice hobby.

For just plinking paper and the odd can or 2?
The .177 is plenty.
Flatter trajectory then the .22 but less take down power if you plan on any 'critter control'.

The Crosman pumps are a deal at under $70.00 new.
Do the Amazon bit here and Neal gets a cut also.
I did that for the 1322 and the SMG 22.

You need a license here to own one and anyone who is found with one that's not licensed faces the same penalties as if they were an unlicensed firearm.

Fired a few .22's and BB's years ago when laws were a lot laxer.

Good to know Nancy is keeping an eye on your fire zone.

Grant,
Are AG's regulated like in 'Jimbuna Land'?

As long as they are under a set limit no license is needed?

Ah. Never mind. I checked and see you all can't even have one without a license.

If I get the job I applied for, I'm gonna buy this one:

Weihrauch HW-45
(In the US, Weihrauch is known as Beeman)

One of the strongest and most expensive PCA (dunno of you use this abbreviation anywhere outside Poland...it stands for pre-charged compressed air).
In Poland you don't need a license if the gun's power is below 17 Joules.
This one is around 9-10 depending on the pellets used, so it's pretty strong as for pistols.
