Default Damn it!

Well I never had this problem before....
Just changed video cards from ATI to Nvidia.I uninstalled the ATI drivers etc before fitting the Nvidia card with latest drivers but TvT now crashes when you click to start the mission.
I did a clean install of TvT but still no luck.
It ran before with the very same Nvidia card.Weird.
I have all of those 'missing' files in the TvT folder and Windows/System folder too.

This isn't a game problem I am sure,it's something to do with the swap over of video cards.

I am going to try a few things first.Stand by....

Default Drivers

Chucky have you tried re-insytalling your drivers? What about your DirectX have you updated it?Sometimes when you chnage graphic cards you need to update drivers etc.

BTW there´s a guy on another thread who´s got a problem with the missing 70 and 71 dll files. Can´t start the game.Do you know where he can download them?

Best of luck

CHUCKY WHAT DID YOU DO man!
A tip for you and anyone who changes out their video card:
The number one thing is (in windows) UN-install your video adapter
driver and reboot. You should see at the log in screen a change in
the screen size if the UN-install was successful. Then DO NOT LOG IN
shut the computer down or off. Then add your new video adapter.

Hang in there Chucky we got you covered Kameraden!

Thanks ZW,I am sure I did that though. It needed a format anyway, there were other issues that I needed to address that a format and re-install would cure.

Anyway I am back now, drinking Gin and waiting for Steam to re-install 90 gig's worth of games.Slow isn't the word, and I am running out of Gin

Will try TvT tomorrow but I am sure it will be fine.

Chucky.

Default Graphic cards

Chucky, I read an article about external graphic card which are a bit like external hard disk and unlike the inbedded ones they are easy to use and apparently you don't need to update everything in order to use them. The downside they tend to be much more expensive. That's one thing to consider in the future as I am sure the price will come down.
Chucky I feel for you man.Losing all your games!!!!!S...t!

That's one reason I refuse to change my OS to Windows 7,

Tell me what specs will you have with your new Nvidia compared to the ATI that you had?

Easy on the gin! We won't want you to drive your Tiger in an antitank ditch ...

Take care and best of luck!

Lol Frinik @ the gin comment!

I am now using a Nvidia 280 GTX OC,my previous card was a ATI 4890.
I thought the ATI was quicker but after benchmarking them both the 280 came out on top so in it went.

Will have to see what frames TvT runs at now.

Default Pass the gin!

Chucky after googling your new Nvidia 280 GTX OC and seeing the specs I am the one who will need the bottle of gin....
Compared to what I have you'll be rocketing your way to Kursk!!!!

I only hope that you can fix the problems. I suspect you'll be getting 50 to 60 FPS with that monster.....

Get a bergepanther I may end up in an AT ditch

Cheers

GRRRR! wtf? It still won't work?
It loads up but I can detect a sort of 'whistle' from the speakers whilst in the menu.It crashed once saying can't initialise sound drivers so I think I know where to go next.
This ran fine before I changed the video card.

Default Sound Acceleration?

Chucky I read that post written for a guy who had updated his computer in some wway and couldn't start the game.It had to do with sound hardware, becayuse when you mentioned that whistling sound thta come sotu of yoru speaker I trhought may be it's related to your sound. Here it is:
long time ago i read something about a sound bug in the Lighthouse Forum

maybe you need to update your sound-drivers or
eventually you need to switch off sound hardware acceleration

This is how to do (translated by google)

Typing Start-> Run-> dxdiag

On the Sound tab, the current sound settings are displayed, and you can test DirectSound.

The slider for setting the sound hardware acceleration is used to correct audio glitches that might be caused by some audio drivers. The best way to troubleshoot DirectSound audio problems is to reduce the acceleration by one notch and re-testing the application. Lowering the Hardware Sound Acceleration Level from the default "full acceleration" may lead to non-functioning of advanced audio processing techniques such as 3D spatialization.

Hope it helps!

Cheers and stay off the gin( until you get the game worjking and can celebrate)

Thanks Frinik.
What is strange is that it ran before fine with the same soundcard.
In desperation I booted up my Win XP disc and installed it to there and guess what? Yes,still won't run so I guess there is some sort of conflict between the GTX 280 and the Asus Zonar D2X soundcard.
At this rate I will have to pop the ATI back in.

I will have to walk away now,I need to rest.Maybe have another go tonight.

Default Don´t give up!

Chucky isn´t there a tech at the shop where you bought the new GC unless you bought it online of course?

On the internet there are dozen of website devoted to upgrading GCs and giving advice and with Q and AS.Might not hurt to read some of them see if somebody did not have a similar problem and how it was solved.

I don´t think going back to your old GC is the solution though. With Kursk coming soon you need the best performance.

All the best!

Default Sound card Problems in T34 vs Tiger

Try this Chucky:

StartMenu/Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices/Audio/

at Sound playback you have a Advance button
click that. Then in Performance you have a
slider for Hardware acceleration. Slide to
"None"

Frinik,I can't understand it.I have been building my own PC's for years and can always resolve problems but this has me stumped for the moment.
I even went back to on-board sound and still no joy.

I think I am missing some files, those damn msvci70.dll files and his chums.

I have msvci70.dll and msvcr70.dll in both the TvT folder and the windows system folder but I am sure there were 2 more similar named files. Can you have a look at your install for me Frinik please?

Thanks,Chucky.
