Default New here!

Hello everybody!

I am a 34-year old Dutchman and working as engineer in a car race team. Season's over so I had some time on my hands...

So it's been quite the weekend!
First I bought Silent Hunter 4 and enjoyed it a lot for 10 hours in a row.

Then the next day I searched for info and stumbled into the Subsim forum where I found out about CMANO!
A few years back I already bought Command Ops from Matrix and now I found out about this gem! Love it!

I'll be getting back here regularly - I started my first scenario now.

Welcome aboard Skyhigh! Every one knows the Dutch sailors are the Best! They didn't call it Nieuw Amsterdam (my birthplace)and the Dutch East Indies fer nuthin' and the English still remember Admirals Tromp and de Ruyter and the battles of Schooneveld and the Texel !

Hello Sunburn,

You did not answer my question ask previously:
Remember?

"WOW!...What a great statement SUNBURN, "IN SPIRIT IF NOT IN BRAND"!

So "Red Pill" is inspired by "Harpoon". Then "RED PILL" changes name and becomes "Command". "COMMAND" is inspired by "Harpoon" as "COMMAND..." is "RED PILL"'.

When "RED PILL" is launched commercially it becomes "COMMAND....".

Hence, "COMMAND" is a fruit from the "HARPOON" tree.

Is there anything wrong with that, to the point of claiming the contrary?

Honesty does not hurt!

What is going on here SUNBURN, would you care to share?"

So why the lie?

Well, how are you doing with that first scenario? Would like some feedback. Thanks.

@biosthetique: I'm not sure what you're trying to prove by beating on that drum, thread after thread.

We've always been clear that:

(a) Command is inspired by lots of pre-existing games, Harpoon being one of the strongest influences (not a surprise for anyone who knows our past), and

(b) Command stands as a game on its own, and is judged on its own merits and not what it does better or worse than Harpoon.

The former does not invalidate the latter.

A player who picks up Command is not interested if it does thing-X better or worse than Harpoon, what he cares about is if Command does thing-X well, period.

So, let's talk about the game itself.

@Skyhigh: Are you playing out one of the stock scenarios or building your own?

By saying that your game is HARPOON "in spirit if not in brand", it looks like your game is standing not on it's own merits but is standing on HARPOON!...

"in spirit if not in brand" makes it stronger than just an inspiration!

Your quote makes it confusing and difficult to choose between the two games. Distinctions become grey and blurred!
