Default @aaken and TLAM

Where are you with model building?

I know I have stepped out of the game for a bit but was still wondering what hasn't been done.

Maybe we should tie up. I just can't seem to stick to things at the moment, motivation is a little low but it might pick up.

Hi guys. Great stuff. Question: How easy would it be for you to put improved skins for the Akula, SW, and LA only in the game? I've noticed that a lot of the effort is toward AI models, but I suspect a lot of players would be happy just to have better skins for the Akula and a more "to scale" (meaning better lenght and width modeling) for the SW and LA.

With out a way to change the location of the viewport for the sail view and/or access the models in a .3ds format (no program I know of currently can handle a .j3d to .3ds converson when the model uses .dds textures) to design a new model with the default location of the sail in mind its very very difficult to make a more accurate model for playables.

Bummer...
...so modding DW has turned out to be a little more resistrictive than modding SC I gather.

The only way would be to remake the model, I guess.

It is a case of trial and error, but not onlyin position along the hull but also height of viewpoint.

PITA I have a working 688i with opening vls doors so if anyone wants to play that then cool, but your sail view will be wrong.

Alas I have no modeling skills

Maybe I'll just buy SubCommand and get SCX so that I can see what a real sub model is supposed to look like (j/k... actually not really).

*goes to amazon.com to look for old SC copies*

On a side note: I look at the SubCommand model of the SW and it just looks different and better than the DW model... am I imagining this?
