Darn Escorts

Escorts drive me nuts cause even when you are at a safe depth they still do all sorts of things to try and sink you and keep you out of range of merchants or heavy warships!

That is sort of why they are there, although in the first few months I've run across lazy destroyers that don't try very hard.

Don't take it personally, they're just doing their job.

Then, you have less torpedoes to deal with the Merchants. Which, in turn, means you will get less tonnage than you might have before. Make every torpedo count. Sinking escorts can be tricky. They like to zig zag and sometimes the draft is too shallow.

I don't bother with anything smaller than a Destroyer. Unless it pisses me off...Like the contact report that I got one day where there was 2 convoys in my AO. When I waited until night and shadowed them, THEY WERE ALL FISHING BOATS! EVERY SHIP IN THE CONVOY! It made me so mad.

I sank 6 of the darn things with my Deck Gun and I tried to ram another because I ran out of Deck Gun ammo.

I ended up getting like 10k tons on that patrol when you add the other ships I sank.

OK so my sinking them first comment was a joke. LOL

But I will attack a DD if she pisses me off to much. Even on the surface!!

I have issues ...

don't worry you will, foud myself shadowing a small 4 merchant convoy with 3 DD's as a escort, it was early '42. sunk a 8t merc, dove deep underneath the thermal layer, silent an all but they got off a couple lucky depth charges and I had to do some maintenance, repaired it after a lot of dodging and went silent again. alas, they stuck to me like glue and finally got me .

You never know when you'll get Bungo Pete's Bro on your neck
