Been up to the train room recently after a long hiatus. The layout now has a working farm!

The view from the cornfields

From the Farm stand across the street.

A birds eye view of the chicken coop

Also I just finished wiring up this little guy for lights. Still thinking about where to put him.

All of the ones in that picture are operational. About 2/3rds of the roundhouse bays contain a working locomotive.

Here's some more in the line up.

Too bad that looked like a nice layout. Did the society find another place or did they have to destroy it?

That's good to hear. It takes so much to create these layout's it's nice when they can be preserved. Some people make them modular which is something I wish I had done. The NMRA has a standard for modules that allows for that and to mix an match them.

Not very realistic i'm afraid. Steam engines and diesel fuel do not mix.

Nice, is that a Honda? Do you run the wires under the base to power the lights?
One thing about model railroaders, they don't just model a tank with a few shells and scrub lying around, they model the whole blinking town. Very very cool, love the chickens too!

Thanks!

I believe that is a post war BMW. It's from a set of two produced by a company called Rocco.

For the lights I used micro LED's and ran the wires along the frame and down underneath the layout. I put the wires on the back side to hide them but I found they are so thin that once painted in you can't even tell they are there.
