Most of what you are looking at there is in "Data / Menu / menu.txt" file. However, some of the drop-down boxes are also pulled from CareerStart.upc and Flotillas.upc in the Data / UPCData / UPCCampaignData folder.

Thank you for the reply. Now I can't find where to change the month name to English when you get mission. And I can't find location of text when you start in the career (black background, only month, day and location is displayed) type screen.

In your case, using the German side, you would look in the Data / UPCDataGE folder for your UPCCampaignData files, but also look for the UPCLocalization folder to get the UPCLocalization.tsr file. You'll find the months' "translations" there, as well as other descriptive text used in the game.

Why, US side, in Data / UPCData / UPCCrewData / Ranks.upc file. The German side of course, is in ... UPCDataGE ...

btw, note the use of %s and %d in the menu file for "string" and "digit" variables. Some of the files will use the "greater than" and "less than" signs to hold modifiers, the way this site uses the brackets, such that and turns "bold" on and off. In the case of this area of the game, the text definition in the game also makes the text "red" in color...

who woulda thought that?
it never dawned on me to look for Rank information in a file named RANKS.UPC.
There must have been a moment of clarity in Bulgaria when then designed this.

thank you!

Ain't it sumptin? Some things are where they seem they should be, but most is off in left field, and sometimes way out in foul territory. In the immortal words of Harry Carey: "It might be! It could be! A foul ball!"... He used to broadcast the St Louis Cardinals with Jack Buck before he did the Cubbies, and I saw an example of that at a Cardinals game one night (Stan "The Man" Musial versus Roberto Clemente - oh, what a night) - double- header against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and we had ridden the street car to Sportman's Park... ah yes... I remember it well.

Jack Buck, Harry Carey, Stan Musial and Roberto Clemente all in one place?
THAT would be something to see!

would have been very late in Stan's career. he was a hellava ballplayer.

Clemente too! It would have been around a certain six-year-old's birthday of July 10, 1963... I seem to have mis-spelled Harry's name, in that it should be "Caray", not with an "E"... I always forget that... Seventh inning stretch time!
