radar Surprising images from inside North Korea

Magnum photographer Carl De Keyzer is one of very few to have been given unprecedented access to Democratic People's Republic of North Korea.

In the video above, they choose to use the word Democratic (In text) not the first thing I think of about NK!

Yes! Know that for sure but I do not agree with that in anyway for many reasons.

In polysci there is a saying that the words used in the name of the country usually mean that the country... ain't

Democratic People's Republic of Korea
German Democratic Republic

United States of America.

I know Political science well, and of course how the term is used just like you. It is not synonymous with how the country chooses to have in its Official status outwards towards other countries.Even as I expressed that it sounds nice to have the word democracy but is instead a hard communist agenda. Scratching the surface then the rules of the game are different. When it comes to your suggestions on other countries' past or present attitudes, here too it differs greatly. GDR or just (DDR). Not much to add to the story the common man is sufficiently initiated over what happened between the years 1949-1990.

As for the US, everyone knows that the country is a United federal republic, and a number of different Autonomous regions. A country that does not have a communist agenda on paper, which pleases me.

I have often wondered if there is a maximum size that a country can be and still be democratic in nature while still maintaining some level of state sovereignty.

10 states the size of an average US state? - sure
100 states the size of an average US state? -- I don't think so

The greater number of states would involve a greater sized federal government to manage it. The fewer number of states could get by with a smaller federal government.

I wonder what the optimum number is?

I have often felt that we are evolving/devolving from being the United States of America to becoming the United Federation of America.

I am not sure that is necessarily a good or a bad thing.

What is optimal in a form of government? The question is divided depending on which part of the world the person lives. United Federation of America sounds good to me! As long as it can work in a way that benefits the citizen, that's fine, but that is not in reality, as we all know.

I'm curious Gerald, if it's not reality then why does it sound so good to you?
