Winter Campaigns

For some time now I've been thinking about creating camouflage boats for winter campaigns, but I haven't found any historical information. Did such camouflage boats actually exist? I know that the Germans have established a base on Kotelny Island at the mouth of the Lena River.

However the shading can be misleading in black/white photos as depcted by U-69 in drydock>
