Default Enemy visuals (settings in post)

Trying to find proper balance for TMO visuals to stop hawkeyes at night so night surface attacks at realistic ranges are possible . Current settings they are not.

[Visual]
Detection time=0.5 ;[s] min detection time.
Sensitivity=0.1 ;(0..1) min detection threshold double detection time.
Fog factor=1.0 ;[>=0]
Light factor=3.0 ;[>=0]
Waves factor=3.0 ;[>=0]
Enemy surface factor=30 ;50 ;[m2]
Enemy speed factor=20 ;[kt]
Thermal Layer Signal Attenuation=1.0

I am guessing light factor is the major one. So should it be set higher or lower to allow darkness to reduce enemy visual sensors? Same for fog? Just need to know how that works before go through process of testing etc.

Remember most TMO escorts are set to veteran skill level because when set lower to "competent" they are actually incompetent, especially in submerged attacks. Even with to to veteran, could should be able to pull of night surface attacks on dark nights from respectable ranges.

Explain the surface factor?

Increasing the light factor makes it more difficult, and I ~think~ the surface factor larger also... maybe? I determines the surface area of what the enemy has to "see" of your boat for the set time period for them to "detect" your sub...

From Ducimus, but there are others, and different details, but I cannot find the others as easily...

You are welcome. The way I can find it is I use a browser search engine, and then use "site:subsim.com/radioroom Ducimus Adjusting" and it will usually fall in the top 5 hits. I used to search on "editing", and it would usually be on the 2nd or 3rd page instead... - I cannot remember the other authors of other similar write-ups, and have not been able to find theirs yet. s7rikeback has some of these in pdf on his mod gathering site... which I cannot find the link for in my bookmarks just now... sheesh!
