Default AOB Computer and Speed disk

I found a cool AOB computer and speed disk. Two things missing in SH4.

I printed up the pieces, glued them to cardboard disks and held together with a screw and nut.

They work real well.

Perfect AOB and speed calculations make for great longer range shots.

That is cool,, This is an "Is - Was" Not the exact same but the thought process is the same..

I looked at the pictures in your link.. This does the same job.. Aesthetically it looks different. Mechanically it does the same thing.

Once I have the targets course and speed and I know mine..
i can pre-plot my shot..

I know where the target "was" when I established course / speed /range and AOB.. I can then set my target solution on when the gyros are at zero. Because I know (buy the TDC ) where the target "is" going to be at the time of the shot.

I tested it all afternoon today.. Using these tools I got a solid solution on the target pretty far out.. I set up for a zero gyro shot..

I put down the scope... Watched the TDC and when the gyro hit 000 I fired a single torpedo.. Went to outside view and it was right at the center of the target..

Didn't do crap ,, it is 1942 and I fired a Mk-14,, Can you say Dud?

But it worked..

I hesitate to post links in the forums but if anyone wants to get this thing drop me a pm and I will send you the link to where I got it. There are also
instructions on how it works.

PS..

The "IS-WAS" is a misnomer.. A more accurate description is a "Was-Is".

If you read "Run Silent Run Deep" by Edward L Beach or "Clear the Bridge" by Dick O'Kane The "Is Was" was described opposite of its name. If you know where the target "WAS" (its course, speed, range and angle on the bow)you can plot where it "IS" at a certain point in regards to bearing from your position. Providing you do not turn or move since the first plot.

In the books it is described as you know where the target "IS" by plotting where it "WAS".

ie "Is-Was"
