Not that I would put it past one of our Mayors or Governors to try something like that.

That would be Sovereign Citizens. As far as I'm concerned, if they don't believe the laws of the land apply to them, then lock them up without due process and throw away the key.

Gee Budda I never knew you were so authoritarian! I mean dayam, shouldn't they have to commit an actual crime first? I never thought you'd advocate jailing people just for having beliefs you disagree with.

Seriously while I don't hold such extreme views I do think that people who declare themselves to be Sovereign Citizens should be deported like any other illegal alien. Either they are one of us or they have our governments permission to be here. Absent that give them the boot like we would to anyone else who is here without authorization.

And no changing our mind for at least a decade when they come crying back in 3 months about how tough it is on the outside either. There's nothing like living in a foreign land to realize just how good we have it here in the USA but such extreme ignorance as abandoning ones citizenship must have the lesson driven home before considering letting them back in.

Surprise! Just venting mostly but damned if they don't deserve it. Can't have it both ways and where do you deport to? The Atlantic and Pacific oceans?

Waterworld begins.

Anywhere the other side of either would be fine with me. There must be some country in the world that would take them. Maybe along with a few bucks or a few surplus tanks or something if they agree to keep them off any plane or boat heading to the US.

Its the Philippines; the non-English text is pretty obviously Tagalog; I further confirmed by simply Googling the name in the article, "Arthur Tugade" and heis indeed the Transportation Secretary in the Philippines...

Beachgoers in the UK are being urged to maintain social distancing measures as temperatures soar across the country.

Mexico's death toll has passed 50,000, days after it became the country with the third-highest toll, after the US and Brazil.

Hong Kong chief executive Carrie Lam announces free Covid-19 tests for anyone in the city who wants one.

Data suggests about one person in every 1,900 has the virus in homes in England - with statisticians saying cases may be levelling off.

But an increase in cases in the city of Preston leads to more local lockdown measures in north-west England.

Since the high number of infected in the next biggest city in Denmark, the Danish government have said that from this day it is mandatory for commuters and other travellers to wear mask. This injunction is only for this city.

I was just curious. None of our authoritarian governors have gone that far. At least not yet.

Young people in Preston are being urged "Don't kill Granny" as new lockdown measures come into force.

Extra restrictions were imposed after Covid-19 infections rose in the city.

Adrian Phillips, chief executive of Preston City Council, said it was "alarming to see that the under-30s are contracting it at a significant rate".

"I know our director of public health has said 'Don't kill Granny' to young people to try and focus the message,'" he said.

Since midnight, residents in the Lancashire city are banned from mixing with people from outside their social bubble in homes, gardens, and indoor venues, such as pubs.

They can meet in groups of up to six - or more than six if they are from two households - in outdoor areas such as parks and beer gardens.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...shire-53706436
So now we have a new slogan in an attempt to get the message across as growing evidence suggests it is now the younger generation who are spreading the virus.
