First test of new "real" ocean waves and floating submarine. Video taken from the iPad screen, runs at 60 fps (tested with same result even with 60 floating objects). No eyecandy in this video at all (sky, horizon, foam etc.), just the nearby water and two u-boats:

Looks fantastic, almost wish I had an Apple product.

Almost.

Looks fantastic indeed. It's funny to think that the top-end phones are practically as powerful as your average laptop from a few years back. Nice to see someone making proper use of the potential in the form of a subsim.

Here's for an Android version if one ever comes out. No Apple products here.

Default Wow!

Hey there. New member, first post; hi;0)
I've only ever played one subsim...that was 'Up Periscope' in '86, when I was 10....but it was one of the most immersive videogame experiances I've ever had. I loved it. Used to load it via tape [s******]. Alas, since the old Atari...I've only had an endless stream of consoles. But I'm super excited about this; I'll get an iphone touch for sure, if it's good. Please...just take your time;0) Do a Nintendo...and don't rush it. Found this site, because I was following the SH5 debacle...maximum respect to the modders working on this. Ubisoft used to be one of my favourite game companys, but I've seen them pull tricks like this, in their quest to get to the top...EA prostitute themselves in similar ways. The modders are salvaging something of their reputation for free!! Hardly seems fair, as UBI KNOW they can release a buggy game...and it'll get fixed for no charge. Maybe this time, with all the negative reviews; they haven't gotten away with it this time.
But a no-nonsense subsim, on a mobile? Genius. So long as the game doesn't SNAFU...I'd even invest in this, if I could.
It'd be like a Tamici...absurd virtual pet thing, for a guy. Your pet lives for about three days, if it's good...and stalks other slow, lame pets. Evil cackle.
Could be a surprise hit...I mean hell, if a ten yr old kid can calculate firing solutions, and spend a day like a stone at the bottom of the Pacific....what's the problem?? So many console owners are sick of being treated like dumbasses, anyway...b And you live with a game like this, too...
Haven't seen the new water yet [3d stormy waves seen at the waterline]; but everything else looks great. Sounds fantastic with all the different sub types, and interiors; although I'll admit I'm a bit worried about 'feature creep': as this looks like a big project. How many staff are there? I'm amazed with what's been done within a year, I have to say.
Told a couple of guys I know about this-who initially stared at me blankly; they both got a little excited after just a couple of minutes...keep working on it!;0) Trust Apple to promote a deep, rich game like this; now that videogames are finally in from the cold, on their systems. Z

New stormy water looks great, the movement looks just right;0)
Been looking at 'Silent Hunter 3/4 youtubes too...have I been missing out on more than I realize? Everything sure does blow up a lot, even heavy cruisers and battleships [not sure about that]...but it'e real purdy.Could it be, that if you can appreciate a good subsim...then perhaps the richest of all gameworlds, is yours?
I digress.

Looks like [explosions drain power, ipod touch/fondle's 1ghz] if you can just secure the mass and movement of the explosions first...if you can get that; that's enough [plus dynamic random floodings-which I know you're doing;0)
Won't take over from desktop games; as those are pretty much the most impressive explosions ever...graphics do matter [but then computers are expensive, buggy, prone to break down, and require constant upgrading...before replacing outright....]b
Just thought I'd have a rant there. Hey, what sank Atari? Reliability and games. Even though my 600 and 130XE still work today...my friend got the same computers at the same time; and they were totally stuffed within a year. Why do you think I haven't owned a computer since? Iphone/rug constantly scans for updates/patches, and automatically applys them...so.....A whole new market for games;0) It can do 2d shumps pretty much perfectly too, great ones like Dodonpachidaioujou...that means pretty much perfect control, to me;0) I'm sounding like an apple fanboy now [I'm not, really, and aren't writing this on an....anyway];0)
It's a novelty having a 'puter; so just talking to myself. Move along, nothing to see here.

Still in development (and release date still unkown). Had to work a lot on other things during the last months

But it looks much better now:

Video of it running on the iPhone 3GS (taken with a webcam, colors are actually like on the pictures)

3GS Screenshots:

You know what? That the most convincing sea surface and wave-riding I've ever seen.

Thank you

Rewrote the Ocean Shader yesterday, it's more detailed now and offer much more control over the foam (new vs old):
