Yeah, I do remember somebody crashing on the runway

The first sortie a big chunk of my rudder mysteriously disappeared but that's about it

Sorry I jumped ship after my takeoff pile-up yesterday, but my arms and face were stinging and I really wanted to hit the sack so I did
I got my first kill, and my last because the kill was caused by rearending the P38 I was chasing... :hmm: I'm beginning to wonder if that's the only way to take them down... :hmm:

The first sortie I strafed a P-36 until I ran out of bullets and RTBed

The second sortie I shot down a P-36 after chasing it for a while (Though I think I killed the pilot with my first cannon burst, it started acting funny)

The problem with the Emil is that even though you have ∞-1 MG bullets they aren't powerful enough to do any damage and you have almost no cannon ammo...

You can begin to wonder about that when we finally meet P38s. They are much tougher than the P36s we have encountered so far.

The P36s aren't that bad, you just have to use the cannons.

Another thing that HunterICX has found out this morning is that if you take a bomber/destroyer and you change to a gunnerposition your carrer gets overwritten. That's why I'm an "Oberfeldwebel" again (This is not even the correct rank, since an Oberfeldwebel will not be promoted to Leutnant. An Oberfeldwebel will (almost) always remain in the petty officer's ranks and eventually become an Oberstabsfeldwebel as his highest possible rank, but that's another story... )...the smart ass struck again

So always remain on the pilots position when flying a bomber (Lets hope the bombsight position is regarded as being part of the pilots position by the DCG) .

Eeep, thanks for the heads up. Was that you I saw get nailed by a P36's wingman? I saw two of our guys go in, the first hung back, then the second curled in between the lead P36 and his wingman, and then his wingman promptly opened fire on whoever it was. Made me wince.

I think our 2nd sortie yesterday was our best one yet (Wiped out all the French fighters except 1 Hurri, right?) and our 3rd sortie was the wors't one yet (Good thing most of you weren't there)

I hate how they keep sending those Blenheims to bomb us though...

Anyhoosaz, I won't be coming today, seeyall tommorow

@Oberon

Yep, that could have been me.
Normally the wingman won't do a sh*t to protect his leader but in the DCG it seems to be differently.:hmm:
When flying coop-mission with my squadron I had already a lot of enemy wingman flying in "formation" with me while I was hammering their leaders, so I don't pay much attention anymore for wingmen. Obviously not to clever in DCG though. But well, that's more realistic and actually I was always pretty annoyed by the fact that wingmen were not fighting at all (effectively reducing the strength of the squadron by half).

Yep 2nd was good What happened in the last sortie? At least the weather looked piss poor judging by the quick peek before my IL2 crashed.

Nothing happened. We didn't even find the bombers we were supposed to escort. We could only hear their screams when they were slaughtered by the French/British.
We decided to RTB after about 5 min. or so. It's useless to try to shoot an AI guy down who isn't affected by the weather while your plane is bumping like driving in a Mini over a field of cabbage and you can't see a thing in the fog/mist/rain/clouds.
