Default Nippon_Maru_v1.9b_FotRSU

================================

Nippon Maru will rename all the Japanese merchants in your game to the Maru prefix, this will also increase the number of Japanese merchants within the game environments listed below.

These models are NOT new, they have been cloned from other units already in the mod.

Normal disclaimers apply, these Maru’s may only have a passing resemblance to the ship it’s named after, it may also have a rivet missing or mast in the wrong place.

Installation instructions can be found in the following folder

- Documentation > Nippon Maru > Install Guide

Readme file can be found in the following folder
- Documentation > Nippon Maru > Readme

Please report any issues...

================================

Download Link - Nippon_Maru_v1.9b_FotRSU

Small update added - 30/10/2022 - This update is save game compatible.

Data > Sea > JP_RyuunMaru > JP_RyuunMaru_shp corrected.

Combined Roster updated for Nihon Kaigun v1.3_FotRSU

To also ensure 101_FotRSUv18_FixPak compatibility.

================================

This is an official add-on for
100_FalloftheRisingSun_Ultimate v1.8

And is fully compatible with
Nihon_Kaigun_FotRSU_v1.3

================================

This version also includes the following mods:
- MODS > Combined Roster - Enables Nihon Kaigun + Nippon Maru to be installed together with shared rosters.
- MODS > 451a_TMOstyle_NavMapDots for Nippon Maru = adds TMO styled NavMapDots for shipping.

Default Mod Background

Japanese ship-naming conventions Follow different conventions from those typical in the West. Merchant ship names often contain the word Maru at the end (meaning circle), while warships are never named after people, but rather after inanimate objects such as mountains, islands, weather phenomena, or also animals.

The word Maru (丸 meaning "circle") is often attached to Japanese ship names. The first ship known to follow this practice was the Nippon Maru, flagship of daimyō Toyotomi Hideyoshi's 16th century fleet.

Several theories purport to explain this practice:

# The most common thought is that ships were thought of as floating castles, and the word referred to the defensive "circles" or Maru that protected the castle.

# The suffix Maru is often applied to words representing something beloved, and sailors applied this suffix to their ships.

# The term Maru is used in divination and represents perfection or completeness, or the ship as "a small world of its own".

# The myth of Hakudo Maru, is that a celestial being that came to earth and taught humans how to build ships. It is said that the name Maru is attached to a ship to secure celestial protection for itself as it travels.

# For the past few centuries, only non-warships bore the Maru ending.

# Its use was intended as a good hope naming convention that would allow a ship to leave port, travel the world, and return safely to home port: hence the complete circle or "round trip" arriving back at its origin unhurt.

Also note that "Hinomaru", or "sun-disc", is a name often applied to the national flag of Japan.

No comments generally means no issues... at least the way I see it...

That said, I do have to say, well done.. is working the ships are in the rec man... & in game.. thus far, haven't had any issues... that I can see of... that are connected to this mod... Did have 1 or 2 hiccups but that was related to FotRS-UEN v1.39... not Nippon Maru.

I'm a 108 downloader, I haven't finished this normal campaign yet so I'm saying nothng about that Nippon thingie until I've used it.
If you want some complaints old boy you can have this one for nothing, we've just spent another xmas and new year at sea again (who do I send the complaints to about that then?), do something about that s7rikeback because you're beginning to cramp our style.
My boys are wondering if this war is just a smokescreen so you landlubbers can nab all the pretty girlies and leave us sailors with the ugly ones, message sent to all submarines in the area, that should get some tongues wagging me thinks.

I don't expect any more complaints from any other submariners but you can bet your bottom dollar that you'll get some more from us.

LT.CMDR Mad Dog.

PS.
That post above had better not be a windup s7rikeback or you're gonna find yourself in hot water when we get back to base.

this is what i mean.
i am just an Ignorant American, sorely lacking in the fine art of insulting English-English style.
