Default Air radar warnings TMO

Getting back into SH4 after many years. Installed the TMO mod and started a US Campiagn in a Porpoise class. I get radar warnings for aircraft. Now my radar scopes are inactive as I don't believe that class has active radar at least not in 1941. Is this a glitch?

The screens that you see are for the SJ that isn't there yet... what you "see" on the NavMap and hear from your crew about air contacts is from the SD radar, that you cannot see, but is always there...

If you have the OTF mod also loaded, there is an extensive pdf explaining how the radar is supposed to work, the German and the US one. This also applies for TMO I think.
It's called "Using Radar.pdf".

In brief, early on in your campaign you cannot switch on the A-Scope and you don't have surface radar. But your SD radar works anyway by getting you crew reports about spotted airplanes that you must follow on the map - not on the scope. In TMO you can raise/lower the SD antenna at periscope depth to locate planes which you should do in a battle area. (Don't forget to lower it again, although I don't think this is a factor for visual detection by the enemy AI.)

There are some simplifications since it is a game.

The SD was available from the start of the war, but not every sub had it. The first one to sail from PH with a SD radar was in January 1942.

The improved SJ radar started to be deployed in july 1942, but the PPI screen that you see only became available in the summer of 1943.
