The Frau, being the overachiever that she is, has just been diagnosed with COVID for the THIRD time!!!

She has all her shots and boosters. For Thanksgiving she visited her sister who is, unfortunately dying of cancer. Her family was visiting her for what would most likely be her last Thanksgiving.

It turned out that two of her sister's kids are antivaxers but they showed up unmasked too.

Seriously, your mother is dying of cancer and has pretty much NO immune system due to the Chemo but you still show up unmasked. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!

Well this turned out to be a spreader event. The Frau was diagnosed with COVID about three days after coming home. We later found out that the entire group, including the cancer patient also have COVID. We have not gotten any updates about the sister.

Fortunately, The Frau's symptoms were pretty minor. Coughing, headache, nausea. She shook it in about a week or so.

Than came Christmas. We had her local family over at our place. Everyone was vaccinated and some had the booster.

Turned out that this was also a spreader event. The Frau tested positive for a third time. The rest of her family are also positive.

Unfortunately, this time her symptoms are pretty bad. Not bad enough to go to the hospital, but bad enough that we have an admittance plan in case. Fever, coughing, chest pains, pretty crappy.

(knocking on my head) Fortunately, I have remained symptom free during these last two infections. So I can do what I do best -- take care of the woman I love.

So we will be spending NYE together and hopefully she will be fast asleep early today. Sleep is what she needs.

This COVID crap ain't going away.

Even with both shots and the booster, some people can still get it. Gotta keep those masks and social distancing going.

Happy 2020 Too. Same [stuff] Different Year.

Best wishes. Isolate - and also keep other people actively away from yourself, too, I mean alos outside the quarantine time. Obviously some of them are not the brightest lights out there. You are lucky to be vaccinated, your wife as well. If she caught it three times, God knows how it would have ended for her if being unvaccinated. Good luck!

Hang in there my friends you will overcome it once again-thanks to the vaccine.

It's not the same strain you have been infected with-it has been different for each time.

I only had one Moderna shot and caught the VID about two months later.

From my own experience I couldn’t really function and attribute much of that to a lose of appetite which made me weaker, it just never came to mind to eat anything. SO make sure she does. When I finally did I started getting better then I had a high fever and I slept for almost two days after which I was ready to take on the world.

Being the over achiever and on the go she may have never completely shook the virus. So keep her on a leash and make her get her rest and good eats. I’m sure she’ll be able to shake it in a week or so.

Sorry to hear of your wife's issues, Platapus. Hopefully you are both in contact with her primary care physician and let them know if her symptoms become worse. It's beyond belief that your sisters nieces / nephews didn't care enough about their mom and your wife and family to mask up.

In my honest opinion, this may well be the new normal, with regards to Covid infections.

I hope your wife gets better, Platapus. As I'm sure you already know, make sure she eats and gets plenty of rest as Rockstar said and also juices and fluids to keep her hydrated.

All the best.

You should pay a visit to the sister's kids.

Either that or make tiny donations in their name to charities that they would hate and provide ALL of their contact information. The RNC is pretty good about bothering you for the rest of your life if they find out that you gave something to a candidate.

She seems to be getting better, but is still a very sick lady.

But at least she does not seem on the verge of going to the ER.

She says that this time was worse than the first time she had COVID.

Sorry to hear your wife has it again. Glad she is coming around. Me and the missus got it over Christmas. My symptoms cleared up in about 5 days. My wife's lingered on for about 8 days. To be honest, I have had head colds there where worse. I experienced headache, sinus was a bit off but not like a full blown cold were snot it flying. Some dry cough. No sore throat or fever. Very mild overall.

I'm scheduled for my booster tomorrow.
