Default Realistic, but "sandboxy" SH mod?

Looking at living SH3 for this. Is Edition 2017 the latest? Basically, I'm looking for a sandboxy game where I can go after enemy ships however I want and can have a career. Also want realism.

One big thing for me is I've never been a fan of calculating my own torpedo trajectories in combat and was wondering if this mod allows me to designate crew to do the calculations (just like crew can use deck gun). Any other suggestions? Don't care much for eye candy or latest graphics.

With all supermods command really doesn't really interfere you while on patrol. You can do anything you wan't besides sink friendly ships . Also command doesn't care wether you patrol your assignated grid or not...

I was thinking about getting NYGM 3. Is there a "order officer to determine torpedo solution" command?

NYGM allows you use the Weapons Officer for assistance with torpedo solutions.

God hunting,

What does "assistance" mean in this case? I just push a button, select the ship, and he does the rest of the data entry?

The weapons Officer will calculate range, speed and AOB and enter the information into the TDC when you lock onto the target.

Good hunting,

One can use weapon officer assistance in any configuration of SH3 one can come up with if desired.

If you ask those questions maybe if your first time with SH3? because 'sandboxy' career is default sh3 behaviour, be aware that the mods like gwx and nygm can be a lot more difficult than vanilla or other mods.

What you are referring to is Auto Targeting. Do not tick the manual targeting box in Game Play settings and you have Auto targetting.
