Default [WIP] Barbel class diesel (SS-581 USS Blueback)

My next project, I'm going to make a Barbel Class fast attack diesel. I know there is already a skipjack available which is pretty much the nuke version, but I want to build a sub from scratch.

I would love this boat.... Diesel Power using RFB physics would be great!

I think my biggest challenge will be making the snorkel functional, but it would be the coolest feature too, 12 kts submerged without running down the batteries (snorkeling speed may be slower, I'll have to look up the specs). I'll see about incorporating one of the modern torpedo mods as well.

Sounds good just please make torpedo modifications match service date of submarine, nothing to crazy lol

Well the Blueback was commisioned in 1959 and decommissioned in 1990, so it has had available to it everything from Mk14's and Mk27's to Mk48's and even the zero room for error Mk45 wire guided nuclear torpedo (i don't think I will be making that one).

After this once you think you might try making the Los Angeles compatible with TMO 2.5 and the TMO compatible version of RSRDC? A RFB+RSRDC version is available but it's a bit buggy.

The snorkel works for recharging batteries, it doesn't work however for getting rid of the CO2 in the boat.

As far as the LA for TMO...we'll see.

I haven't had a chance to really get started on it. I got a copy of the schematic of the sub though, thanks to OMSI, they sell them in their gift shop. I'll start posting more on this once I get a start on it.

OMSI? Isn't that the same company that makes the German Bus simulator?
