The question is how many of us, especially our British friends are interested in Cricket ?

If there is, then someone should create such a Cricket thread-Just an idea.

I have no interest in it. I may read what people write in this thread but that's all.

On my left arm resides a tattoo of the ECB three lions but I can't see the attraction for many on here regarding the subject matter and the UK home cricket season is about to end.

Former England striker and Tottenham's record goalscorer Jimmy Greaves has died at the age of 81.

Greaves began his career with Chelsea before spells at AC Milan, Spurs and West Ham.

He scored 44 goals in 57 games for England and was a member of the 1966 World Cup-winning squad.

He holds the record for most goals in the English top flight with 357, and scored 266 in 379 matches for Tottenham.

Greaves' 41 goals in 1960-61 remains a record in a season for Chelsea, and he also holds the Spurs record with 37 in 1962-63.

A Tottenham statement read: "We are extremely saddened to learn of the passing of the great Jimmy Greaves, not just Tottenham Hotspur's record goalscorer but the finest marksman this country has ever seen.

"Jimmy passed away at home in the early hours of this morning, aged 81."

Poor bloke will have to make do with a 3/4 million compensation package.

Don't know how he'll manage but with the worst statistics of all managers in Premier League history I think it safe to say no other team in the league will employ him.

On one hand I'm happy that the Toon army may have the answer to their long-suffering dreams. On the other hand, that's some shady money, and despite their 'assurances', Newcastle are now led by the Saudi government.


I'm sure Newcastle supporters are waking up with visions of a City-style rise to prominence, but a blind eye's been turned to make it so.

The UK already sells and trades with the Kingdom regarding types of machinery, aircraft, arms and vehicles, etc. so why insist that a football club becomes the social conscience of the country?
