Default A tiny question on RAOBF and magnification

I know most measurement work for RAOBF is done based x6 magnification (height and width). But what happens if I have to do the height and width measurements in 1.5x magnification level (e.g. the target is too close for x6)? Is there a quick conversion from 1.5x to 6x?

I’m guessing here, but the width of a ship at 6x mag should be 4x the width at 1.5 mag. So if you measure width (or height) in ticks at 1.5 you might be able to multiply them by 4 and use them in the RAOBF. You could test this with a ship that is close comparing 1.5 mag x 4 raobf range estimate and the stadimeter. I don’t know if the same simple relationship holds for ship passage time at 1.5 vs 6 mag, and also if the periscope ticks change at 1.5 vs 6 it’s also going to break the relationship to RAOBF values. This is all me thinkalouding without any in game testing. Good question though.

If they're that close, just eyeball it <g>.

never mind. The in game ROAFB tutorial covers it all. It's really helpful.
