Default Kursk

Mort if you run out of ammo during the battle for Kursk you can always steal Lc's crutches and beat and bash those T34 crews senseless....

Well if our wingmen are as rambo/trigger happy as they are in ZW's Tiger Break Out mission then we will probably be lucky to shoot an AT guns or just target practice on burning T34s and KVs.....

Lc once you're finished with your crutches just lend them to me please; I want to see if the field nurses will be sympathetic to my plight and devote their good care to my person.

ZW is due to announce the release date for Kursk...

Best to all

This is what's promised!!!!!

This Kursk release will be very fierce and intensive. The artillery can
strike a single tank from over 10 miles away. The anti-tank population will
be high and well dug in. Just those to weapon systems alone make it harder
then any previous missions thus far. I want this to be hard for the first
few miles toward Dubrova. Then after that pure hell to Pokovka. But the
taste of victory will be sweet. In addition a 10 to 1 - T34 to Tiger ratio
with minefields, tank trenches and huge barbwire obstacles and you will
have to deal with the deadly Soviet 122mm Mortars and of course the dreaded
Kathuysa Rockets.
But you will have room to move and try a range of approaches to your
objectives. With artillery support the battlefield will be in constant
flux, giving a randomness that will further add to the simulation effect.
With the "Simulation" aspect a consistent goal and in which must include
historical accuracy I however can only attempt to mimic actual events.
Many details on such an enormous battle is just not possible for me to do.
Therefore, I will try to compensate by doing my best and work all I can by
including new tanks vehicles and weapons structures etc. all the while making
this simulation playable and enjoyable.

The Kursk mission will start about two kilometers east of Tomarovka
as a German Tiger commander in the 2nd SS Panzer corp. 1st SS Panzer division.
Your overall objective is to fight your way to the small village of Pokovka
(not to be confused with Prokhorovka) about a 13 Km.(8mi)drive north in the
middle of the Soviet held southern front sector.

Your first objective however will be to secure Village C located northwest a
few miles from your staging area. Over looking Village C is a strongly defended
high ground position that must be taken prior to your second objective which
is the drive on Dubrova. You can choose two ways for this assault:
1). A frontal attack where you take your chance on the minefields have been cleared
or 2). Fallow the lowlands along the road trough Village C until an attack on
Dubrova can be made coming out of the east. Elements from the 11th Panzer Div.
will put pressure on Dubrova from the west. They [11th Pz] will be holding a
strong position east of the GrossDeutchland Div. as they drive on Cherkasskoye.
Once Dubrova is taken you will be re-supplied for your drive on Pokrovka.

If you are as excited about this kind of mission as I am this may be the
tank simulation for you. You can be sure that there is no arcade type action
here. But I do have to say this will not be for everyone, nor can it be and
remain true to my vision for this incredible Tank Sim.

A few of the new Soviet models created for Kursk are the KV-1 1942,KV-1s 1943,
SU152-1943 with the ML20 Gun,SU122-1942 with the M30 Gun, the T34 with
the Chtz (the forged, rounded) Turret and the T34 with the Hard Edge Turret
with commanders copula. And the early T34 a version with the 1942 (cast) Turret.

The Soviet artillery units modeled are the Soviet 152mm ML20, 122mm A19 the
RK27-76mm Howitzer and RK27-76mm Fieldgun, 122mm Mortar as well as the
Studebaker mounted M13 Katyusha (aka Stalin's Organ) rocket launcher.

Kursk land mass is 1296 square Kilometers. That is equal to 484 square miles.
You can fit 16 default maps inside of it's boarders, they [default maps]
are 81 square Kilometers or 31 square miles in size.

- ZeeWolf.

A ratio of 10 T34 to each Tiger????How many Tigers will be into play????If it's a Zug may be up to 12 Tigers???Against 120 Soviet T34s and KVs and SUs????Not to mention the field artillery/the Rockets/The mines and the AT guns ....

I am too scared to play! Please I want my money back!

I am too young to die....

Good luck Guys it's been nice talking to you but I suspect the forum will have lots of empty spots after the battle...

Its going to be ugly! The Russian Arty is what really scares me! The dug in ATG's will also have a devastating effect if you make a boo boo and don't use the terrain correctly. All in all its going to be a blood bath! What fun!

Thanks Zee!

Default 3 weeks and counting.

Three weeks before the release. At least I 'll have time to kiss my wife, kids and cat goodbye! And Lc will have time to get rid of his crutches.

Yeah the artillery strikes will add a touch of unpredictability compounded by the facts that we will have to seek out the AT guns emplacements, dodge mines, watch out for roaming T34s and KVs, make sure we don't get our driver killed or our caterpillar tracks broken and or we don't run out of ammo while the Hanomag got itself stuck on a burning wreck or stupidly killed by driving in sight of Soviet fire!!!!This is masochism incarnated

[QUOTE=frinik;1285174]Lc, I might be tempted during one of my scouting missions attract too much Soviet attention to the fact that our Panzer II commander limps and is therefore an easy picking.

Lc at least with your crutches you'll have an easier time typing the game keys from your bed...

Hi Gefreiter Frinik,

i must disappoint you as i have the permission to use my moms netbook. I think my arms are long enough to write some lines.

I have read, that the first release will be in three weeks, so its time enough for me to recover and hunting you down in your well protected Panzer I without any crutches.

Cheers

[QUOTE=morttheslayer;1286244]Hello all.
Thanks Frinik, I think Lc might struggle in the turret with his crutches - mind you he can poke the driver with one to see if he's really dead when his T34 gets "browned over"; as for Karma Sutra for Tankers he'll probably
need an all Russian women crew - then a year in a field hospital

Hi mort, i want to let you know, that my Tiger I is camouflaged in pink. I have only beautiful ladies onboard. These female crewman are giving me any help in any sense. Dont be frustrated if your crewmembers are stinking of sweat. This will remind you, there is no luxary foryou guys.
Only i have these priviledges

So lets get a ride with my bunnies

Hello Tiger friends,

i must say you all are crazy but i like you humour. Frinik, i think the nurses will be crazy when they see my crutches. They are indeed purple.
You know after being wounded i was awarded the purple crutches. It must be a great honour for you to lend them. But its not cheap. If you want my crutches, you have to clean my pink Tiger tank from dust.

About Kursk,

ZW has a lot to do and i know that for 2010 this will be the game of the year. Dont want to think about if i had missed his membership.
Tank sims are very rare, but this is one is fantastic.

Looking forward,

greetings to all my comrades and our big boss ZW

Have wanted to try this sim since it first came out, but I didn't have a pc that would run it. Finally saved up enough money to have one built, so now waiting for it to arrive. First thing I ordered after that, was a copy of TvT. Its on the way too, hope they arrive together, lol

But, missed out on ZW's missions, but will donate a bit of money to his site, and purchase the Kursk mod. But first things first, have to see how to get Win7 to run it, and find out if I will have to turn of HyperThreading too, because I have a mid range quadcore ordered.

Still, I'm hoping it will run ok, we have needed a good tank sim for quite sometime!

Looking Foreward to Kursk

Hi Tankmanglers
Very much looking foreward to Zeewolfs Kursk. It must be a hell of a job to adapt the game for playability, sim authenticity and game limitations to make it run well for all. I think ZeeWolf is superb as he listens and does all he can to reproduce an authentic experience within the game constraints. Many developers could take a lesson from this and ZW is only one person (I hope he's getting some sleep BTW), oh and also he tries his best to sort bugs asap it's the best money I've spent on games over the last 2 years!

Lc Your pink tank will only be OK in the desert (early SAS style!)
but the colour's cool

ZW all the best mein Fhurer sorry couldn't get the arm to go straight up!!Seig!

Default Pink Panther?

Thanks for the pink Panzer II ZW but it's already promised to Lc! He loves Pink tanks( probably loves the cartoon the Pink Panther), has been condemned to drive a panzer Ii for dereliction of duties, he is promiscuous with Soviet lady tankers and has purple crutches( although after his experience with the Russian ladies it might be a purple crotch????)

Mort, of course ZW does get sleep! What do you think the Z in ZW stands for????

Yes ZW has done incredible things and his after-sales service has been outstanding. And people are lining up to buy into his Kursk mod.

Best to All.

PS: all captured Soviet female prisoners are to be turned over to Lc.Men with purple crutches apparently get priviledges....

Hey Morti,

so if this will go on i must say that i do not riding a German tank. I think it willbe a European one. Pink Tiger I (sorry frinik, of corse Panzer II too)with european flag. British colour, russian female POWs and a german tank.
If this will come true i hope the helenic will support me with greek euros.

Howdy
