Well, the inevitable happened - I screwed up and lost the whole thing. I found I had a folder set aside labeled something like 'Complete finished 'Data' folder'. The last time I had it set up exactly the way I wanted I copied everything in the 'Data' folder, thinking that I would just have to install the mods and the .ini and the the other files would be ready to go. I loaded it up and got through the entire entro, except for the way it looks. It loaded for awhile, then crashed. It might be something as simple as one mod I forgot to install, or as complex as being completely twisted around. Or maybe it's because the last version was done on Windows 8 and I'm using Win10 now. It doesn't matter. The only thing now is to tear it out one more time and start yet again from scratch.

Sounds like you are not using JSGME to enable the bunch of mods. If so, "there's your problem!". If you need to make personal tweaks to files, create your own mod-folder structure in MODS. It is so easy to undo mods and re-arrange in another order. Also, it can also change files in the SH3-root folder, not just /Data

The majority of mods relate to what is in the Data folder, but not all. Some files could be in the root folder (community executable patches). Or the savegames/user configuration settings in the Documents/SH3 folder may out of sync with your 'Complete finished Data folder'. As you must know, that can cause crashes as well.

Most of 'em do not take it seriously.
They are like kids with a toy pistol!
Never again! (unless I know the guy's well!)

If you like single player sci-fi stuff, the MASS EFFECT series, especially the first three... I'm in love with those games. Its like being the main character in a movie. Very heavy epic stuff. You can feel it as you play. Very well written and interlinked storyline (until the very last, and they've got a mod for that, fixing it.)

Just don't forget that you live here at Subsim, Sailor Steve. Its like mold. It grows on you and permeates. You can't scrub it off.

Not gonna lie. I laughed so hard that I had to blow my nose. Thank God I wasn't holding coffee.

Oh my friend, I do believe that you are firmly one of those 'heads of state' if anyone must suffer that errm... accusation? You certainly have the commanding spammy post count to prove it.

In all seriousness, I have missed you, Jim. (Don't worry.... I still like girls.)

Cheers, KtL Kurtz/U301.

Thank you, humbly, but I really do not think my head should be included in this illustrious collection of heads above me not matter what the state. Cheshire or otherwise.

Like Jeff, I haven't gone anywhere. Just doing my best Marley's ghost intimation and rattle chains on occasion.

Good hunting,
FUBAR295

It's very reassuring to get a reply, I've been too long on flight sim sites, to hear the sound of a human voice has chilled me right out!
I remember the names and the help you guy's gave to us all.
Let me take this time to thank you for all you do.

I can not speak for the others but I do what I do for myself first.
It's my obsession to mess with the files and see how far I can push things.

SHO Re: And again...

@Sailor Steve

Just something to consider... I, for 1, use a computer running Win 10 & this is what I did to set up SH3 to it:

When I went to install SH3, I avoided C:/Program Files & C:/Program Files (X86) completely & set up a folder as follows:

C:/Games/SH3/(whatever mod I decided to use here, for me, I used /LSH3-2015, since I went with it...)

Hope this helps you out...

Well that's pretty messed up. I've been treated fairly in the Wings Over Flanders Fields forums. Except for two or three from my Red Baron 3D days, they don't know me from Adam over there. They are at least polite though. Other than there, I don't have any experience with other sim sites, but some have seemed so massive and full of children, that I didn't even try.

I have a separate SSD set up just for my games. I don't go anywhere near the C drive at all.
