Default U-3504 Launched Yesterday! (Revell AG 1/144th Scale Type XXI)

With great fanfare, U-3504 slid down the ways at the Bortwerks yard just outside Chicago, adding yet another U-Boat to Illinois' collection. The excellent Revell AG 1/144th scale Type XXI went together easily and plus painting and decals was launched just 3 days after the keel was laid. I had a fun time with this one, 1/144th scale is excellent for subs if you aren't crazy or well funded enough to tackle the 1/72nd scale VIIC and Gato that Revell AG offers.

Here are some pictures of the brand new submarine:

The conning tower and stand.

A view from the bow with open torpedo tubes.

The stern, captured in all of its plastic glory.

More of the torpedo tubes.

A view of the bow planes.

The conning tower and fore deck.

The whole thing all together!

Next up in line from Bortwerks Chicago is a Tamiya 1/48th scale Tiger I with die cast metal body! After that comes another from Revell AG, the 1/144th scale VIID.

I can't wait!

Nice, I'm currently (amongst other things) working on the AFV Club 1/350th scale Type XXI kit, in between doing bits of my Akula!

Certainly can, here's the best online shop I've found for ordering models, they also ship worldwide, and it was in fact the only place I was able to find the Akula kit I'm currently working on, if you want a Type XXI, this link will take you right to one (not the one I'm building though, I bought that discounted from a shop in Manchester, I think it might be discontinued), go to the home bit of the Hannants site and do a search, for whatever your heart desires, Enjoy!
