Hello subsim lovers
I have been experimenting with sh5 for some time now. With all the great mods here, and a great job from Sober and the others. However i have a question or two... Have anyone ever noticed that campaign is a whole different story to a single missions regarding mods? It's like sh5 is messing with mods in campaign, here is an example. Like i said i was experimenting with so many mods and my own tweeks, and after months i have finally got almost the perfect sh5 in single missions. (AI is super smart, damage level...and many other things..) But when playing in campaign, even the late times. (OPEN HORIZONS II_full v2) AI is just so stupid, they always end up blowing their butts off with depth charges or just running around in circles like idiots. (IRAI_0_0_39_ByTheDarkWraith). With same mods in single missions its a whole different story. AI is super smart thanks to IRAI and TheDarkWraith. But i have noticed that even if i change something like weather or color of interior and all of the sudden AI is so stupid and the whole game just becomes unplayable, it just doesn't make any sense. 1000 little things affect this amazing game, sometimes i think that sh5 was just a commercial for new environment engine. Sober have you ever got feeling like this? That all the mods are affected by something else, all that hard work here. Maybe that's why most people here can't run same set of mods like others? Sorry if my english is bad. |

Quick question on mod complaibility and mod order. Does, (Speech Recognition for SH5 - NewUI-english (8.88 MB)) work in this mod list? I read the description and says place before UI mods. In Sobers mod list would that be before mod NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0_ByTheDarkWraith ? I did a quick search of thread and didn't see anything about the speech mod. TYVM for any suggestions

Don't get me wrong there, your set of mods are perfect. And they are working fine here. I have read everything from your post. Well, maybe the best question will be...are you really satisfied with sh5 and mods? And if you can what will you change? I apologize if this is the wrong post for that. |

As for campaign and AI, there is something really wrong here even with so many hard worked mods, ubisoft? Last edited by redline202; 02-10-13 at 09:08 PM. |

All done by your posts, everything is working 100% with your mods mate!
But there is a big difference between campaign and single missions. In campaign i have crashes when approaching to ports, stupid AI...other than that real navigation is pure realism and your mods are beauty In single missions AI is perfect and no crashes! Still i blame ubisoft! Sorry for your trouble...but can you confirm about stupid AI in campaign even in late times and no crashes when approaching to ports after missions? |

And if I can make another suggestion, why not clear up a little the whole procedure into an updated step by step list? There is so much information scattered (what to download, what to install, but more especially what, how and when to tweak some files settings, etc). If you dont take the time to really read all the first messages, but also the bit and pieces of valuable information that are burried within the entire discussion it's easy to forget one critical step and find yourself into dangerous waters and potentially unstable mod-playing experience without even undertanding why this is happening. I'm not saying that the information or the first messages of this thread is uncomprehensible, but simply could be cleared up/shortened a little in one single step by step list, into one clear post, that would be also easier to maintain/keep updated... For example : 1- Install the game 2- Patch the game [link] 3- Download the Sober mod list [link] (if I can make a suggestion here, you could also add a version number to your list file, or at least you zipped file) 4- Download the mod enabler [link] + install instructions and loading list 5- Download the full updated mods archive [link] or 6- Download individual mod from this list + warning about how to install the mods (the updated list+links, and if I may suggest, you could shorten your first post by simply merging the "Mod list correct order" paragraph with the "Mod links list" paragraph. This way, only one list would be needed to keep updated) Now this is where I find that things should be cleared out into step by step instructions. The follwing list of what I'm thinking off at least is NOT IN A CORRECT ORDER. - Start a career/campaign (how and when if applicable) + relevant infos - Modifying options (how and when if applicable) your main.cfg file + relevant infos - Modifying options (how and when if applicable) with OptionsFileEditorViewer + relevant infos. - Deleting info about the Visual C++ 2008 (how and when if applicable) - Modifying options for Setting scope resolution (how and when if applicable) - Modifying options for TDW SH5 Patcher (how and when if applicable) + relevant infos -Modifying options for Realnavigation (how and when if applicable) + relevant infos - Offline play recommendation - Modifying in-game graphic and realism options (how and when if applicable) + relevant infos Modifying contact.cfg options (how and when if applicable) + relevant infos - Various additionnal information (Videocard settings, in-game saving, special tools, etc) and FAQs (how to disable this, what's causing that, etc) Well, that's all I can think of right now. Having a clear, well written, step-by-step instruction in one post would certainly help everyone. This way, installation/option tweaking errors would definitively be less frequent, so bugs and CTDs would be easier to pinpoint and troubleshoot. I just want you to know that I appreciate all the effort from the modding community here and I'm not nitpicking here, I just want every Subsim players, newbies or not, to be quickly able to mod the game following your mod list and procedure! What is causing my crash?
Here is what I get when I try to start a campaign after Coastal Waters.
00001233 346.59695435 [4364] SH_ServerOrbitProtocol.cpp (111): Failed to read packet from client. 00001234 346.68432617 [4660] ..\..\..\..\..\..\..\..\..\P4ws\massgate-MAIN\massgate\uplay_pc\2.1\live\shared\libs\servic es\src\services\GameKeeperImpl.cpp(236) : Product id '3' all processes terminated I have done everything per the instructions and typed in silentotto to bring up the hidden campaigns. I double checked my mod order and everything is good according to the latest mod order. |
