Shh!
I decided that executing deserters on the spot is ineffective, we need him to lead us to his fellow conspirators and then shoot them all...

I had to experience the situation that I saw a nice B17 lacking behind so I dived on it...
and while diving on his six, another B17 popped up in my gunsight comming from underneath my Nose. the only thing I could think of before clipping it ''Where does he come from?!'' HunterICX

They lie!!! its a conspiracy
I emptied my entire load into four B-17's and thought to myself before R.T.B. ''the're going nowhere now'' and what! only one actually went down. That second sortie was a laugh, Max stalled at take off, with his 190, I never even got the pile o' sh!t of the runway After the remaining 3 pilots dropped there loads at the docks, there was a real nice surprise waiting on the return home (16 spits) they dropped there loads again :rotfl: Quote:

Red Max, Kratos, I can sympathise with you both, the SM-190 (Stall-Monkey 190), how do people use it?!?!?
If you dare try to turn sharp it snap rolls, if you even think of slowing below 150km/h it stalls, ok it has a nice cannon and MG setup and outperforms the 109 in several areas, but it's not a very stable platform. |

Oh aye, Das Wunderflieger that only Germans, part-Germans and Task Force can actually fly
Meanwhile in Afrika: Schroeder: "You're a disgrace. I'd like to know how you got to be an Oberst, anyway." HunterICX: "You promoted me." Schroeder: "That has got nothing to do with it." |

Here we go (Yes Kratos, you were right about that): The ultimate solution is speed. At 450+ km/h you can out turn pretty much everything and you have one hell of a stable gun platforrm. Practise a little and be easy on the elevators as it (as you already know) has a very abrupt stall that will give you only very little warning (listen for the wind sounds). If you should find yourself in a position that you are low and slow you are scr**ed. The 190 doesn't like to climb and without energy you are toast. While flying slow you will have constant problems with stalls (if you aren't careful that is) and the turning rate is...well... a catastrophe. Always remember one thing above everything else: YOU ARE NOT FLYING A ME 109 SO DON'T FLY IT LIKE A ME 109! Keep your energy: don't turn, use boom and zoom tactics!!! For take off and landing you should use about 20km/h more speed than in a 109, with a 500kg bomb maybe even 30-40 km/h more. So don't try to pull a plane that has a minimum flying speed of ca. 160 -170 km/h in the air with a bomb loaded while you are going 150 km/h. It has to result in disaster.

yes... the fw 190 is a great plane... if you don't go all crazy in it... when i takeoff....
Put down landing flaps, gun throttle. (with WEP of if you have to.) go down runway... and don't pull up hard, pull up slightly till you get height. and try to gain good speed before you start turning and stuff. when in flight Don`t do crazy moves all of a sudden. pull gently, when the plane starts shaking you are on your way to trouble. and keep your speed up... and remember, to zoom and boom... speed it the thing that will keep you from stalling out... also remember your combat flaps. when landing... attempt to slow your plane by pulling your throttle back, and using flaps. attempt to keep it above 200kms, 180-90kms at least. if it starts to fly funny, push the throttle up...

Ja ja, ok Prof you got me there, I guess it's the way I fly, I have never boomed and zoomed in my life, I've always engaged in a turning dogfight, and every attempt I've made to turn away and climb has resulted in a riddled tail section and a long plummet into the ground/sea below.
I'm not denying that at speed the SM-190 is a nice aircraft, I just find her a bit too twitchy for my liking, I have a similar problem with other aircraft. I guess I'm more of the 109/Hurricane level than the Spit/190 level in regards to comfort zone. I'll have to put more hours in on the 190 and then make a proper judgement, however most of my sortees with it have ended badly, although admittedly the last one wasn't the fault of the 190, it was my own frustration at being beaten to the punch by all and sundry that made me Allah Ackbar into a group of trucks. The trucks were destroyed though |

Patrice Z&B on bombers. go up about 1000m- 500m above the bombers, get above them, I myself go upside down instead of diving and having a red out., and dive on the enemy, get lined up, and fire, and pull up till i get altitude... and repeat.

Hmmm, the problem I seem to be having is control, I'll get up to 500-1000m above them and dive but I cannot line up a proper shot to save my life, I move the stick a small part to the left and nothing happens, a bit more and I'm doing barrel rolls. It's a joystick problem no doubt, and I suspect that seven months in, my little Extreme 3D Pro is on the slippery slope to destruction, which is wonderful because there's no chance of getting a new one for a while.
That, or, the alternative, which is, I'm completely useless at this flying lark |

The only advantage of the 190 over the 109 for me is the ammo. Other than that, while the 109 may be slower and less maneuverable at high speed, the 109 is a much more versatile aircraft
But, of course, not as good as the P.11

Why would the 109 be more versatile than the the 190?
The 190 can take out bombers relatively easy. If flown correctly it can also dogfight most opponents (granted the Il2 version is castrated and can hardly deal with Spitfires if engaged at the same altitude while the real life counterpart ate the Spit MK V for breakfast). It is better in the ground attack role too. The air cooled radial engine can take more damage than the in line DB 600s of the 109 and it carries more bombs, guns and ammo. So what does make the 109 more versatile?
