Just to confirm with what pb stated a few posts back, the dive planes in the Tambor are OK on my system. Possible mod mix, or as Treetop64 has stated below, could be a system resource issue or incorrect gfx setting.. merc4ulfate, can you please provide a screenshot for us of this defect ?

Don't know if this helps but I've had occurrences where the Porpoise's planes would deploy and/or retract at weird angles. However this problem seemed to have permanently rectified itself when I installed an upgraded GPU with significantly more performance and VRAM (the previous card had just 512Mb and was used on a system with a 32bit OS with its inherent memory issues).

2. After one patrol in the Tambor at Fremantle I transferred to Midway with it. 3. Yes, I got the Agent Insertion mission twice in a row. 4. I do not try another Transfer after going to Midway. 5. It has only happened on that one patrol out of Fremantle with the Tambor and it was coming out of a 4000 TC. 6. Yes I have heard it on saved loads. 7. I never, ever shell out and if I do accidentally with that damn window key I stop the game and exit and restart with the last known good save.

btw, I was watching your "Radar Contact" video, and from what I've found in past posts, some rather old, is that the problem has been around a long time. The game is trying not to show you that it is "cheating", but when you zoom in, you can see that it is... you would think that if it is capable of showing an airplane icon when you zoom in, that surely it could say "Airplane" when you're zoomed-out, or at the least say "Unidentified"... but alas, the game was apparently originally written with code for ship identification, and not submarine or airplane targets...
I do enjoy watching your videos, and discover little things in them (sometimes big ones) that I do not see in the normal "testing" cycle. Very helpful! Thank you. @merc4ulfate: I'm still trying to track down the issue you encountered with the early Tambor at Fremantle. All I can surmise is that it is another example of the game running over and ignoring dates that are supposed to restrict the game - but don't. I'll keep looking, and I'm trying a "new" idea (scary thought)... As for the previous page, where you state: 4. A couple North of luzon... My first mission after arriving at Midway was just off the coast to Siam...That can happen if you had just done the "Transfer" request. You hopefully started at Fremantle for that mission, then your "Home Port" was Midway, correct (I hope... ), or did you have a different mission, and the Siam assignment was after arrival at Midway? After Midway. Do you think the game is ignoring dates all together in preference to Renown? What I means is that after a date you could be offered a new boat if you were within a certain renown range but if you have gone way over that range very early the game gets confused and offers you the boat based on the renown points over dates offered? Since you are not supposed to get that boat that early it then throws missions offered and other date driven aspects into turmoil. just a thought.

It's that twitch link in his signature:
https://www.twitch.tv/immelmann_burn He both streams and records & edits other video to post Ratz... I ask because when you request a transfer, it OKs it, but you are still at the original location for the next mission... Quote:
We'll try to put together a ReadMe file with the next release with a list as to when each sub is available, so that the player knows when to accept or decline a new submarine. As an example, your Tambor at Fremantle is boat 5, and has missions for almost the beginning of the war, so you should be assigned valid missions there. At Midway, it is there from the beginning, and has a different set of missions, almost mirroring the Pearl assignments, but with earlier Polar Circuit assignments. So all of the missions are valid. All of the boat's parts are valid (other than the boat's active dates), so it should work, for the most part - maybe... but as I said, things seem to go wonkie, and we're not talking Willie Wonka chocolate either... |

Game version? Are you running a clean never played game installation and did you follow Capt Scurvy's installation instruction before you started your current career?

Propbeanie,
I came across a convey with a DE Otri class warship leading a large passenger ship, a large tanker, medium cooler freighter, and hospital ship. My submarine was a Tambor class based out of Pearl Harbor. The date was October 5, 1942, and the location was 68.8 nautical miles and west from the city, Kagoshima in Japan. The location was Lat 31° 30' N Long 129° 30' E. The convey was in a southern direction going approximately eight knots. In the settings, I have the outside camera along with the event camera to look at the behavior of the enemy ship as they approach my boat. The DE was in a search pattern, crossing from starboard to port and back in front of the large passenger ship. The two ships were so close together that the passenger ship and the warship were almost colliding together. I still have the save of the event if you need me to run the program again. I do appreciate the hard work that has when into this mod by the team. Thank you team, for the dedication to this project. Larry

Edit: OK, I think I found them, 42b_Jap_Convoy_015 that sails from Pulandian Harbor, Dalian, China. According to the set-up on the convoy, they are spaced at 700 meters, which might be a pinch too tight for the larger ships. There also may have been a GENERIC Corvette associated with the group that spawns at a 30% rate, since you encountered a 10% spawn-rate DE. There could also have been 3 tankers in that group, all of which would be traveling in ballast. Then again, only a GENERIC Cargo spawns at 100%. Either way, I'll try to add a hundred meters to their spacing through all of the convoy files. Oh! one little detail - were they in two's-column? If there was a 2nd escort, it would have been trailing most likely. Last edited by propbeanie; 08-07-19 at 09:29 PM. Reason: Found it! Maybe... |
