why are the liners in a convoy? didn't liners usually travel alone, and at very high speed to avoid the uboats?

the secound patrol from Trondheim. It's not sunrise, it's not dawn - it is just "HIGH NOON" on december , 26th 1944 (close to Trondheim): Sorry, just MY boat After 4 weeks returning home to Trondheim.
