President Joe Biden tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday while in Las Vegas for a series of events, the White House said.

In a statement, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Biden tested positive “following his first event in Las Vegas.”

“He is vaccinated and boosted and he is experiencing mild symptoms,” Jean-Pierre said. “He will be returning to Delaware where he will self-isolate and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time. The White House will provide regular updates on the President’s status as he continues to carry out the full duties of the office while in isolation.”

Biden was already scheduled to head to Delaware after his trip to Las Vegas.

Biden was tested after experiencing upper respiratory symptoms, according to a statement by Biden’s doctor released by the White House. Dr. Kevin O’Connor is the president’s physician, though the White House did not attribute the statement to him by name.

That's one way to keep him out of the public eye for a bit. The question is, how long can they do that and still insist he's cogent and healthy enough continue running for another term.

He hid in the basement the first time. Anybody here really think he's running the country?

Harris and Vance to clash in pivotal vice-presidential debate

Quote:
Kamala Harris agreed to a debate of US vice-presidential candidates with Senator J.D. Vance, reported Reuters and Spectrum News, citing representatives of Biden and Harris's election campaign. The debate is set to take place on 23 July, 12 August, or 13 August.

As reported by Reuters and Spectrum News, Harris accepted CBS's invitation to a vice-presidential debate in May, when it was still unknown who Donald Trump would choose as his running mate in the election.

At that time, she agreed to the proposed dates of 23 July and 13 August. The additional date of 12 August has been added, but the candidates have not yet finalised the details.

Harris's rival, Senator J.D. Vance, announced Tuesday that he would like to face the vice president in a debate. Harris and Vance were also supposed to converse on this topic on Tuesday, but specifics were not discussed.

On Wednesday, Vance appeared at the Republican convention in Milwaukee and formally accept the party's nomination for vice president.

A survey released on Tuesday by Ipsos and Reuters shows that nearly half of Americans have never heard of the senator from Ohio. Among those who know him, negative opinions (30%) outweigh positive ones (24%).

Since Vance was selected as the candidate on Monday, Biden and Harris's campaign has focused its efforts on portraying him as a political extremist, pointing to his statements about deciding to overturn the 2020 election results and support for a nationwide abortion ban.

Lately even the congressmen and senators who were riding’ with Biden to the end are now calling for him to drop out of the race.

That RNC convention venue creeps me out. Makes me think of "The Dead Zone" every single time I see it.

I'm worried! Would we really just suck it up and take it?

The Biden administration will “attempt” to forgive $1.3B in student debt as a pre-election means to try and buy votes with empty promises that the courts hopefully will knock down, again. Don’t be fooled, no student loan is really forgiven, the burden of debt is just transferred to the tax payer.

Biden administration cancels another $1.2B in student debt

Jacob Knutson

https://www.axios.com/2024/07/18/bid...t-pslf-program

Quote:
The Biden administration will forgive $1.2 billion in student debt for another 35,000 public service workers, the Department of Education announced on Thursday.

Why it matters: The Biden administration's latest round of debt relief brings the total loan forgiveness it has approved to $168.5 billion for 4.76 million borrowers.
How it works: The Education Department said that the relief was made possible via its work to overhaul the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.

PSLF allows public employees, such as teachers, firefighters, members of law enforcement, and people who work for nonprofit organizations, to apply for forgiveness after making 10 years' worth of payments on their federal student loan balance.
By the numbers: To date, the Biden administration has forgiven $69.2 billion in outstanding loan balances belonging to 946,000 borrowers through PSLF.

Before President Biden was elected, the Education Department said only about 7,000 public servants had received debt relief through PSLF since the program's inception in 2007.
What they're saying: Thursday's announcement "marks another win for this administration's relentless and unapologetic work to fix a broken student loan system," Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona said in a statement.

"The additional Americans approved for PSLF today are hardworking public servants who will finally receive the financial breathing room they were promised," Cardona said.

Those words
Quote:

Tells me that it is only those who have been paying monthly who can apply for forgiveness.
Others who haven't will not be able to ask for forgiveness.

How exactly does transferring student loan debt from rich college educated people to those who couldn't go to college or have already paid off their college loans help fix a broken student loan system?

Seriously, do I get a refund for the student debt I paid off, lkike I was supposed to? Democrat rip off.

Meanwhile, the Dems are creeping closer to retiring old Joe...

Quote:
Several people close to President Biden said on Thursday that they believe he has begun to accept the idea that he may not be able to win in November and may have to drop out of the race, bowing to the growing demands of many anxious members of his party.

One of the people close to him warned that the president had not yet made up his mind to leave the race after three weeks of insisting that almost nothing would drive him out. But another said that “reality is setting in,” and that it would not be a surprise if Mr. Biden made an announcement soon endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as his replacement.

This account is based on interviews with four people close to the president, all of whom described the situation as extremely delicate and spoke on the condition of anonymity to avoid offending the president. Mr. Biden remained in isolation at his vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Del., after being diagnosed with Covid on Wednesday.
Yeah, not a surprise, imagine that.

The phenomenon - Trump

Whether you like him or can't stand his guts, you have to admit that he is very special, for better or worse. I'll say he's a unikum

He is a person who is either very much hated or very much loved.

Can't remember seeing this behaviour among the American voters before.

This comment isn't a sign of worshipping your maybe coming President.

It's just that Trump is not of this political sphere

Key points from Donald Trump's 93-minute speech

Quote:
Speaking as the raucous four-day Republican National Convention drew to a close, the former president discussed a range of topics in front of a rapt audience.

It came as his rival President Biden faces mounting pressure to step aside amid concerns over his age.

Here are some of the key points from the Republican Party nominee's speech.

Trump on the attempt on his life

"If I had not moved my head at that very last instant, the assassin's bullet would have perfectly hit its mark," Mr Trump said.

"And I would not be here tonight. We would not be together."
He added: "There was blood pouring everywhere, and yet, in a certain way I felt very safe because I had God on my side."

He said this was the first - and last - time he would discuss the matter because it is "too painful".

'We must heal'

Mr Trump seemed to strike a new tone in the aftermath of the assassination attempt, perhaps sensing political opportunity.

"The discord and division in our society must be healed. We must heal it quickly. As Americans, we are bound together by a single fate and a shared destiny."

He said he was running to be president of all of the US, not half of it.

Deportation promise

He also outlined what he says would be the largest deportation operation in American history.

He repeatedly accused people crossing the US-Mexico border illegally of staging an "invasion".

I hate the fascist state and its mandates. I also don’t like command economies where bureaucrats & government central planners think they know how to run a business.

I do like the this though

"I will end the electric vehicle mandate on day one, thereby saving the auto industry from complete obliteration; and savings US customers thousands and thousands of dollars per car.“. - Trump

He should have mentioned too the billions and billions of dollars in tax payer funded subsidies pissed away on useless EV’s & windmills nobody wants.
