Yeah, she looks like you'd better do what your told.

I have a button that says "No matter what you're doing, it's not as important as petting the cat."

I have had some very weird errors.
I hope this is the right place to post this.
I have installed RSRD, and I noticed that Truk appeared on my map, with all of the towns labelled even from the farthest zoom on my navigational charts.
I decided to check out what the harbors were like there.
So I zoomed in, but once I got to a certain zoom level over Truk, my game froze and the computer crashed.
Does anyone know what happened, and how I can fix this?

You will have a better chance of getting help by posting this in a new thread. Also, you should include your computer specs, and your full mod list.

Good luck.

Default Radar keeps turning on

Hi folks, I tried to search this issue with no luck. The radar scope keeps coming back on in high seas, is there a fix for this?

Thanks
Andrew

Default Clarify?

I guess I'm not sure what you mean about the radar scope coming back on. Is it that you are turning it off for some reason? Please give a more detailed description of what you are doing and what it does.

Sure, the radar keeps turning back on after I've turned it off repeatedly when patrolling on the surface during bad weather (wind 15m/s). I assumed it's an automatic procedure just like when surfacing, but I just wanted to know if this can be fixed like to stay off. I remember the same issue in SH3 and the fix for it was to leave the radio station empty. Maybe it doesn't matter to leave it ON all the time, can the AI detect radar emissions?

So far as I know, there's no way to permanently keep the radar off in SH4, though it seems odd to me that it would come back on if you haven't dived and surfaced again. In my experience that is what would cause it to restart. Yes, the enemy can triangulate on your radar signal, and this will result in search planes being sent to look for you, of course. This isn't something I worry about too much, as the SD radar gives ample warning of their approach. Since I'm running TMO I have the ability to raise and lower the SD antenna mast, so I will dive to periscope depth and use the radar to monitor the aircraft's proximity to my boat. In most cases they never see it, and when they do I crash dive and set a depth below 200' to evade their attack. I have yet to be damaged by an aircraft while running TMO.

Hardware performance enhancement.

I've had a couple of screen freezes and crashes on this last cruise for no apparent reason. I suspect a background app may have fired up. Years ago I used to run an app called 'End It All' prior to playing which closed down most un-needed background apps. I'm running SH4 1.5 with TMO, RSRDC & OTC plus odds and ends on an HP Pavilion m6 (i5 2.5 GHz with 8GB memory) running on Windows 7.

Do any of you routinely use and recommend such a background app closer?

Thanks

Gryff

I've used Game Booster 3, from IO bit. Rockin Robbins recommended it. I can't really say how it stacks up, as my game already ran pretty well. It allows deactivated processes to be easily restored when you want.

Excellent - I'll give it a go.
Thanks, mate.
