NEW OBSERVATIONS Is it normal in FOTRSU to repeat the same mission twice in a row then move on to another mission and repeat it twice in a row ... so on and so on? It is exactly what I am getting. I'm in a Gato SS-228 Drum 1943 they just cut my fair weather bridge down and in doing so they took away my radar. Is this normal? I just bought it with renown on the prior mission I get back they cut the bridge and now I have to buy it again. On the mission before last on entering port there was no surface radar. A day later I load that save and now surface radar is being offered. Nothing changed in the game. Seems weird it came up after the load of the save and not before. I now have: 3 Engine Experts 2 Battery recharge Fix 1 Master Engineer 1 Radioman 1 Quick Escape If memory serves me correctly there is no advantage to having more than one specialist so why does the game/mod give out more than one? As to the two later specialist. Label in GOLD not the usual GREEN specialist ICON is the quick Escape. Odd thing is instead of mousing over the icon of the crewman and getting a few details of what it is like others it just says this: Special Ability: Ability-Active-Quick-Escape-Name ABILITY Ability-Active-Quick-Escape-Description It should say the name of the ability and then a short description of what it is. For the Radio Specialist it is this: Special Ability: Ability-Radioman-Name PASSIVE ABILITY Ability-Radioman-Description Again it should show the name of the ability and then a short description but neither do. Ahoy guys Hey first I want to say I appreciate all the work you guys have put into this mod Afreakinmazing Your protractor is better than the mod I used on previous version. I really am enjoying the less air traffic too. It also seems that the ships stay their course longer and not veering off in a totally different direction. I am however having a few problems
If I zoom in on the purple circles they are actually harbors on land Which i could care less about but it might be part of the problem I am having which is when I try to go into port I cant get the T/C over 4 which makes for a long time to refuel. I thought the problem was my install was with an electronic version of SH4 but I have the same problem when installed from my disc. My loading screen looks like this the RC # is 1 not 2 but I do have the diesel sound effects so I thought I was good there. By the way the engine sound is pretty awesome never had that before. Is it possible my download of Fotrsu is corrupt or am I doing something wrong. there are zero mods in my install Running win10 |

i can answer some of this and probably scurvy and propb will jump in here also. the equipment issue is due to the manner in which it is defined in the upgrades features. the modders can probably fix that in the next release or maybe the one after that. on the special abilities issue, you are correct: having more than one special on-board does not usually bring any more results. as to why you receive more than one....well, now you are getting into a murky area: no one really knows. it is a feature of the game that cannot be readily fixed. one could edit the crew configuration and define which specials are assigned to crewmen in a particular department but there is no way to limit the number of crew who are assigned that special via the normal execution of gameplay. now, having said that, i have noticed through experience that having more than one medic makes a difference. and having more than one ability-active-quick-repair makes a difference. especially when they are located in different sections of the boat. the special abilities descriptions is a documentation-thing. the modders need to add some descriptive text to a specific file and <bingo> when you hover over the icon you see a better description. why not write some up and pass them over to the modders? just a suggestion...... i hope that helps.

Poorly worded in shallow water I can't raise the t/c past 4. There is quite a bit of distance to cover to be able to dock Real time 10 minutes at least

As for TC, you are limited to 4x when near land (LandProximity=4), and that can be a bother if you're wanting to come in real quick to Pearl (or where ever) to dock. Same with going outbound. Sometimes you do get up to a higher setting, only to have it kick back down for "Ship spotted!" message... When you went to activate FotRSU with JSGME, had you emptied your Save folder beforehand? Was your SH4 install "pristine"? None of the FotRSU version have been backwards-compatible with each other (beta version, of course)... As for the radar and cutting down of the conns, CapnScurvy did all sorts of tweaking to the files so that you would NOT lose radar and other equipment with an upgrade. We'll look into it, but... As for the mission repeats, no not FotRSU. Maybe the area, but not the mission, as in any other of the many mods or stock. If you are getting repeats, there is something wrong in your game or save file. |

Apparently because I am not a member I cannot download this mod. I haven't downloaded anything from this site in a very long time except TWoS for sh5 which was downloaded from a different website anyway. Is there somewhere else that this mod is uploaded? I would really like to try this instead of ralles with TMO since I have played a lot of TMO in the past but never FOTRSU.

Loss of Mouse Scrolling
Has anyone else noticed a loss of mouse scrolling when in the Hydrophone station? I have seen it happen twice now during a Campaign. The first time it happened, I figured "mod soup" and re-installed a new copy of SH4 and FOTRSUv.80 RC2.
The second time I noticed it was while playing an insertion mission near Bungo Suido. The hydrophone station was working fine all through the mission. I could use both the "Home" and "End" keys as well as the Mouse Scrolling and the "animation" in the hydrophone station would track the "simulated" position of the sonar heads. I saved and quit for the day. When I loaded up the game again, it had lost the hydrophone animation tracking, although I could still bring up green light "Targets" by using both "Home" and "End" keys or the scrolling wheel on the mouse. I switched to the "F2" Command Room view and I noticed that all the "dials" were either centered or maxed. The dive plane indicators were set to max, even though I was level. I went to an earlier save and found one that worked OK. Then I played through again, checking each save as I went. After making 4 individual saves, I quit, restarted and loaded the game. Same thing, even though they were working when I saved, upon loading things were corrupted. I saved the folder with both the good and bad saves. I deleted the corrupted game and created a new pristine SH4 and FOTRSUv80 RC2 (No other mods), and a new Documents/SH4 folder. I'm playing through a new Campaign now to see if it happens a third time.

btw: FotRSU is built on TMO v1.7. Bleiete's RealModPack is built on TMO v2.5, with RSRDC. If you liked TMO at all, you'll like Bleiete's mod also. Good stuff! Just be sure your SH4 install is good, and that the Save folder (defaults to "C:\Users \UserName \Documents \SH4" (or My Documents, dependent upon Windows version) is emptied. If you use MultiSH4, then it would be different, of course. Another thing that folks sometimes fail to do after certain types of installs, is to use the <Ctrl><A> key combination in the SH4 install folder to select All Files, then right-click and choose "Properties". Then un-tick the "Read-only" box under Attributes on the General tab of Properites. That will allow the files to be altered. Next do your JSGME install, the do the LAA (Large Address Aware) utility on at least SH4.exe. ~Then~ activate the mod. Last edited by propbeanie; 01-26-19 at 02:26 PM. Reason: TMO-based |
