Hello,
i really despise those "social" networks, after all it's only one step more towards total knowledge and control, of the state - and certainly your company can look at it anytime. Only write things in Xing, facebook whatever what you would reveal to a total stranger, in a bar - and nothing else period. There's certainly a good trick against this rubbish, by just using it properly : "I am now 89 years old, have not much interests apart from reading history books, have no internet access (only at net cafés) and live alone in my own house. My wife is dead and i am almost bankrupt." Be sure to leave your real eMail adress, you will be astonished how very little spam you will suddenly receive, along with no viagra, sports, insurance, credit or dating offers any more ![]() ![]() Greetings, Catfish |

@ Catfish
in regards to your spam comment The best practice is to have 3 e mail addresses One for personal use One for Professional use One for spam The personal use e mail could be the goofy inside joke screen name like "DorkyTurd1999@xmail.com" this would be used for communitcating with friends and aquaintances. The professional use e mail would be something simple like your name "John.Doe@xmail.com" and this e mail address would be used for appearance on resumes or for other professional contacts as it would be inappropriate to use "dorkyturd" as your professional contact e mail addy. The spam e mail could be anything "SpamBin1999@xmail.com" - you would use this e mail address on any social networking, online purchases or other such interactions which would likley result in your receipt of spam messages. This has more or less always been my rule of thumb when it comes to creating e mail accounts ![]()

Or you can just use email that has a good spam filter.

this is true.
However, I have tried 5 or 6 different email systems, Yahoo, aol, hotmail, gmail etc etc I have found Gmail to have about the best spam filter that there is. but even the best spam filter wont catch it all... and may even still send some legitimate messages to the spam bin. I have found that probably the best way to approach spam is to create a bogus e mail address that you never intend to check or monitor which is used solely for online purchasing / signing up for stuff online etc.

My apologies. It was late and I was tired and in one of 'those' moods. I didn't mean to overreact.

On the other hand the last roommate I had was texted by his girlfriend to his computer every 15 seconds: "I haven't heard from you. What's going on?" "Why haven't you called me?" "Okay, *&#^@*(, I'm through with you!" "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it." "Please call me." All the time I'm using his computer to look for work while he's out with friends... ![]()
