My guess is it will be a commercial product that you buy in addition to the orginal game. No developer makes "add on's" (IE, expansions) for free. Patch's are one thing (product support), but add ons are entirely different i would think.

Sorry for bumping an old thread but I had to express this concern of mine about the graphics of the new expansion. Perhaps it is possible to use Directx 10 or 10.1 for it's graphics? I just saw a comparison between DX9 and DX10 and I sure would like DX10 in my new games.

A Pic with DX9:

Same Pic with DX10:

PLEASE UBISOFT GIVE US DX10 IN THE NEW EXPANSION

IIRC, that second pic is an "photoshoppped" pic of how FSX COULD look like with DX10 and was made before the game was even released. :p What gives it away is the water, there's no repeating seen anywhere on the lake, that would require so big texture sizes that it would need some kazillion $ super rig to be able to play it.

The website where I got the pics claims that it's scenery from Flight Simulator 10: Acceleration. A directx 10 title that has been released.

Give please! I don't care, just make it look that beautiful somehow

Well, you're right Dowly.

Maybe upgrading to Vista (and hardware upgrades) for the screenshot shown above is not worth the price then? I don't know.

Gameplay is getting there, graphics are night and day now compared to stock. Put these two together and things look very promising going forward, be it 1.4, the add-on and future modding for both.
