Just thought i'd inform you chaps, your full exe. file isn't working.
Sites been closed, Which really screws me over slightly since everytime i download the file in bits, It never works.

Just thought i'd let you know.

I'm afraid there are no alternatives either at the present time, apart from the torrent and the ability of the team to send discs.

Hello and thanks for the reply. I tried downloaded a fresh copy of GWX3 from your website, uninstalled everything, deleted all the folders then put a fresh installation of SH3, patched then GWX.

Still getting the same problem.


My installation isn't a simple one and that may be what is causing the problem. I'll give you some more details.

I'm installing the game from DVD and then patching. Because I'm running on windows 7 and Starforce wont work on it (and ubisoft wont issue an update or patch) I have to get around that problem.

I'm also running DX9res v1.0 to allow me to run the game at 1600x1200.

I run SH3 commander with the correct GWX files.

That's about it. Still getting the same problem.

Now I can buy SH3 from steam to fix the starforce issue, it's only $10 and if it's going to fix the problem then I'll do it. But I don't want to spend the 10 bucks unless I know it will fix it.

I guess the alternative is to wait for GWX4

It's the 16km Atmosphere mod causing the problem. Annoying because my PC is powerful enough to deal with everything turned up to 11. But at least I can now enjoy the mod. It'll keep me going until SH5 comes out.

I'm pleased to report I've found the solution!
This thread http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/arch.../t-103151.html details the problem and the fix. In short you have to enable the mod before making any changes in SH3Cmdr. By following the instructions below I was able to fix things so I can play with the 16km mod enabled.

Rollback SH3Cmdr.
Disable your 16KM ATM
Re-enable the 16KM ATM
Restart via SH3Cmdr.

Apologies for my late response. My availability is very limited these days.

I've seen this issue crop up with a number of different users, and a number of threads here have addressed it. (Though my search for those threads has yielded nothing.)

In a nutshell, you now have a corrupt installation. My impression is that the changes to your operating system may have had a role to play in your problem... in which case, a full re-installation of SH3 + GWX should fix it. (You had no black-sky problem before the changes to your OS, right?)

Otherwise, you may want to consider optional mods that you have placed on top of GWX. They may not be fully compatible with GWX and/or may have been installed incorrectly.

Let us know how you get on.

I thought I would give to the subsim community. I found these WW II radio newscasts to improve the reality of the game. They are in ogg vorbis so they can be placed in the gramaphone folder to listen to them while playing your game.

My son has SHIII (US) and wishes to get GWX going. As he is a US Marine he has no internet access in his barracks.

I can make him a copy of the 1.4b patch, but how can he get the latest GWX?

Is there someone in the USA who can send one to me so I can get it to him? Or is it possible to burn the several files to disks and send them?

Hi,

I decided to get back to subsim games and decided to try the GWX experience (never had the chance to play it because i moved on to sh4 early).

There's a problem tho, the .exe file is altered and wont launch. I'm not much familliar with the Torrents too, dont really know how to use them.

What are my possibilities to get this up running and enjoy a cold beer while sailing to my patrol area?

Would you ship a DvD to a canadian skipper too?

Hi guys, having a slightly game breaking drama with the mod that I'm having trouble sorting. I'm having game freezes (total, unrecoverable, have to alt-tab and end process as it won't recover) which I think is down to going near a certain ship, but I dont know what ship which is what the problem as I never see the ship before the game freezes and locks up, just as it appears on the map... its not a warship, that much I (think) am sure of as its either lone cargo ships or convoys that cause it.
I don't/didn't get these crashes prior to installing GWX so it's got to be something in the mod

I figured originally maybe a dodgy download as part 4 of Kpt. Lehmann's FileFront download failed the md5 check sum despite repeated redownloads. but after getting the part from another source and it passing the MD5 check and still getting it, I don't think that is it.

So I'm totally baffled and hope someone can shed some light?

If it is a ship it will CTD when you see that ship in the museum
Open the museum and simply click on each ship in each country (it takes less time to scroll through the ships than it does to load the frellin museum:rotfl:

I (rarely) have this but once in a while I get a similar CTD. I also noticed once in a while there are convoys with a blue line rather than red and I know for a fact once one of those CTD on me.

If all the ships check out in museum then you know that is not it. Unless (and i doubt this) one of the ships in the convoy has the wrong "side" assigned.
That will cause a CTD
