It's not important that they should notice. It's important that people don't buy from them.

Besides, they probably DO notice even if they don't care. If they didn't search the forums, where would they have found the mods they stole?

And yet 80% said they would buy it from the poll at Real-UBoat which is an anti-X-1 site.
We shall see how the numbers play out.

How many have you sold so far? Judging from the response here, your sales efforts here at Subsim aren't going to well...

I think a more accurate poll would have three choices:

a. Buy any expansion if it came out.
b. Only if it weren't done by X-1.
c. Not buy it no matter who made it.

If there's no option B the poll is meaningless, since the community's loathing of X-1 may exceed its desire for any "official" expansion pack made by them.

Exactly.

Game over already.

This is getting so old.

I really don't feel like trolling out the original threads with proof positive that mods were taken without permission, but I'm happy to do so...

the NYGM Tonnage War Mod seems to address the lame Medd action in stock sh3. Now the med is awesome (well supposedly), and the X1 software isnt needed, it doesnt look much diff besides more ships added. And looking at the RND layer it has SO MUCH TRAFFIC its unrealistic, almost like an arcade sink fest.

Jason on that I agree.
Every time someone post asking what is in the new add on people come on and start a flame war.
I feel I have a right to express my opinion because I am beta testing the new version and know it is original.
I concede the bad feelings from the first X-1 project.
I also understand those that feel bad toward X-1 have no desire to consider the new one.
But, when they make the assumption on the second, they are wrong.
I am not trying to convince those that dislike X-1 to buy it.
I just feel I should relay what I know about the next one to counter false and misleading claims.

What false and misleading claims?

Other than some confusion over whether UBI would actually officially authorize such a disgusting group of people to release a 'product' with UBI's blessing -- and it is entirely understable why that's hard to believe and I won't be _buying_ another UBI product _ever_ again between Starforce, X1, and the beta state SH3 v1.0 was released in -- I haven't seen any misleading claims.

I have presented no evidence that any community mods were using in the new X1 'product', only that the X1 people have proven they're disgusting animals and no one should fund such immoral slobs.

I take it you are not a political speech writer!!!:rotfl:

Many people have made such false claims on the new one often by association and that is where I have made my defenses.

I do understand those that do not want to consider this because of past events.

I also am concerned that those that make the choice to buy this add on will be rediculed at this site and driven away.
There is nothing wrong with people choosing not to buy this.
But, there is nothing wrong with others making the choice to add to their SH3 experience in a manner that does not involve learning the mod world and they should be welcomed to a stronger larger community that makes SH4 more pomentially succesful.

You have every right to not buy UBI products, your choice. Most here will want to get SH4 and our far bigger concern is not X-1 but Starforce.

All anyone has is your word that the upcoming mod is 'clean'.

Maybe a sincere apology from the actual X1 tools instead of more nude photo links would be worthwhile.

I don't see how any of this would make SH4 more successful.

Between Starforce and how buggy SH3 was until v1.4b, I think UBI has made a very effective case for not purchasing their products in the future. Officially sanctioning scammers like X1 is just icing.

Starforce is definitely a real problem.

It's a shame when a 'software pirate' has more freedom with something he has no license to use than those who actually pay for a license to play!

I see your point J and actually usually do. I just prefer to look past it for my own personal fun. I like SH3. I run at least one patrol every single day sometimes 2 or 3.

There is no black and white to me only variations of Grey. The mod community stealing X-1s mods and saying it was OK because the left their private site unprotected said all I needed to know about shades of grey on no one being the good guy.
You will never make me believe the mod community acted reasonably or honorably. They got right down and did the very same stuff, in principle they accused X-1 of doing.
War crimes are only war crimes when the other guy does it!

That said, I advise X-1. I suggest ships to model and run patrols and tell them my opinion and I am as frank as I am here.
They are not making this for me. They do not care what purist think. This will be for increased game play with history as a starting point and game play more important.
What is kind of odd is while I complain about the RND.mis file and think it will be a traffic jam it does not play like that at all.
I will get 3 or 4 task force reports and 2 small convoys but never run into any of them because they change directions more often. With all the task forces reported in about 40 missions I have attacked about 6 or 7. I see them passing out of range almost once a patrol on average. You are right, that is too much. But it is much more fun and I almost hate to admit that. Reality in a U-Boat is extreme boredom with brief periods of terror. This simple condenses the action. Patrols are shorter and with more variation in the action, much more Luftwaffe involvement and having to ID for fear of hitting friendlies. This is a whole new way of SH3. Not so much better but so different it is worthwhile if for only a change of pace for us that actually play this on a regular basis.
The people that buy this will mostly be very happy they did.

Does someone have a link to this "new" Meditteranean add-on? I'm curious what is being added.

Fun? I guess you have too much free time if you find paying Devil's advocate for people that suck fun.

First, the 'mod community' never said any such a thing. You can't speak for everyone.

Second, no one sold or in any way profited from peaking at the leaked SeaWolves release.

If you think X1's transgression is the lesser that is truly sad.

Eh?

There was no profiteering on the part of _any_ commmunity modder. _NOT A ONE._

X1 laughed all the way to the bank, using community mods to get paid. That's just sick.

Only those that either a) don't know that X1 and CP borrowed from the community without permission or apparently any consideration or b) like you, really don't care.

Your attitude can only be taken as one big FU to the modding community.
