Early lesson....don't go alongside, the games doesn't allow any interraction between sub and boat, so no need

Plotting a course through the Hebrides strait and forgetting to zoom in enough to avoid that little island south of Stornoway and west of Loch Ewe.

I've put three boats ashore there.

Driving a Hipper in the fog, my Radar spots a convoy. I use the Radar to close to viewing distance with a medium freighter. I open up on the ship with the dual 8" guns in A turret. The freighter takes several hits, then a hit on the bow causes it to explode. The dreaded "you sunk" screen pops up. The explosion from a 5,000 ton freighter completely destroyed my 17,000 cruiser. I was not happy.

11 torps fired, 2 ships sunk for 7k tons, and they're both neutral. Friggin Brazil nuts running darkened near Gibraltar.... sigh

You're supposed to learn from your mistakes

Or were you in Astute?

Receiving a contact report nearby.

Plotting an intercept.

Arriving and submerging. Listening on the hydrophones.

Listening for two hours.

Realising that the contact was heading north west, while you've plotted it heading north east.

Banging head on desk.

When you have to go through the old rigmarole of having to load everything again cause your puter doesn't like certain mods!!!!!!
Bloody heap of junk!

When you install a "realistic" hull strength mod that apparently doesn't want to play nice with your other mods, load up your career that you saved during heavy seas and are met 10 seconds later with "abandon boat?"

Forgetting to reload a torpedo before intercepting a convoy. (If I tell them to load automatically, they load the wrong torps!)

I had an issue where all torpedoes were duds no matter how they were used. Took a break from the game (hence my absence from the forums) then reinstalled it and everything is fine now.

Dont know which is worse:

After finishing a good patrol of the western approaches (10 ships, 88k tons, good average size, nothing special, just lucky), encountering a darkened ore carrier of the Coast of 'England'.

So thinking A) Ireland is England, and B) It must be enemy cause it's darkened!

Unlucky Irish Sailors.....

Encountering a convoy with two torps left. Lining up a shot on two troop carriers, under the first mast to "guarantee" an eventual sinking.

Watching helplessly as they bob decks awash in the ocean for two days without sinking.

Changing my torpedo loadout while in base, only to find, when I encounter my first target of the patrol, that I've got the default loadout on board. "Bernard!"
