Just a though.
I second this!

I would very much like to be able to discuss mods. I'm essentially a brand new player of a 7 year old game, and joining such a well-matured modding scene is daunting to say the least. I have questions! Many, many questions! What is "enjoyr"? What alternatives are there to DCG? What is the "soundmod" and why do some site say it's essential? Is it the one at AAA and if so, why does it claim I need to install it before I can install other mods? And if it's a sound mod, why does it say "New Flyable Aircraft"? And is it compatible with DCG? And what was that mod Ven posted? Was it any good? And and and...

I would prefer to be able discuss these things here than have to register on other forums. Please consider Dowly's idea.

That would be nice, my engine overheats enough chasing Blenheims in France By the way, Raptor, loved the strafing action going on with Schultzs tower and the Goring carrier

EDIT: Oh, and your demise in the first mission was spectacular, I was on your six moving over to tackle the Blenheims on your left, saw you hit the Blenheim and saw it explode and take you with it! :P

I must've pumped 3/4 of my ammo (Too much in an Emil) into Schultz and that Göring Carrier

Well, let's hope I won't repeat my successes with the Blenheims today

BTW, Does anyone know what the objective is in the Normandy '41 campaign?

Do we need to capture the Secret British Airfield?

Ooh you should have told me that yesterday! I could have become the Subsim Fallschirmjäger and parachuted on the airfield. At least that's something we've practised a lot

I wouldn't want to parachute anywhere, when Raptor's still in the air

What's a coolie-hat?
I'm talking about the POV "hat" on the joystick. Mine is a basic 8-directional, non-analogue (what's the word for that?) hat. An analogue hat would be easier to use (assuming IL2 accepts them as a form of input for looking around).
For so long iv'e been having a little trouble using the locked cockpit, due to the 8-directional hat on the joystick (dont have track-ir)it was a bit jerky and i used to get a bit disorientated when the heat was on, then Schroeder kindly told me about newview
http://war.by-airforce.com/downloads/newview.html
A little bit of tweaking here and there to suit your needs and i feel a lot more confident flying locked cockpit now.
Great tool. Took me a while to get my head around it (no English manual ) but I got there eventually and it's a huge improvement. Thanks for the link!

Good sorties yesterday, maybe our strongest performance so far. We didn't wreck that many 109s, and the majority of us didn't even die

Hunter's five Blenheims on one sortie was really something, but I think the last sortie was the best example on a how a few humans working in cooperation can own the AI. Hunter was in the lead, Schröder a few hundred meters behind him me on Schröder's wing. Hunter called out two Hurries approaching from 12 o'clock. Schröder asked if I took the right hand side Hurri, but before I could answer a third Hurri appeared out of the clouds above. I told him I'd take the high one and pulled my 109 into a zoom climb towards the enemy. The Hurri never saw me coming, but the first burst from a 100 meters only damaged him(gotta go closer next time!), and he immediately did a split-s and started diving towards the ground, trailing smoke. At this point I heared both Hunter and Schröder call their Hurries destroyed, so they didn't really waste much time! I followed my Hurri down, and when he leveled out another burst took off one of his horizontal stabilizers. Wobbling badly but still staying up he continued flying, but only a short coup de grace was needed to turn him into a fireball on the ground.

The whole engagment from spotting the Hurris until the last one went down took maybe two minutes

Transfer , Transfer...here to there...what does the High command want

anyway, indeed the 2nd sortie was a brilliant attack between 3 109's
we should do it more often when we spot them we co-ordenate which we choose as a target and then engage.

Hunters first Blenheim kill of the five was spectacular, full burst at minimum range and kaboom! It went up like a bloody catherine wheel! Last time I saw a Blenheim go up like that it took Raptor with it.
Shortly afterwards I had a close encounter with a Blenheim and lost the engine again, instead of trying to nurse it down I jumped out. I'm not going to risk hitting one of Wide Boys chateaus again Second time we ran into Blenheims and a Hurri escort, Raptor broke off and went after the Hurris and I tucked into the Blennies. First one, close the range, open up with both at minimum range, smoking engine, good, spin around and come in behind them again. Close the gap, aaaah not that close!!

Hit the silk again.... :hmm:

Third sortee me and Raptor could barely see a damn thing for cloud, flying out of the Le Harve desert. I lost him, then I found him again, then some Hurris found us. Raptor sorted them out, I could barely see my prop so I rtb'd. On the way back I joined Raptor in strafing Schultz's tower and destroyed one of his luxury Opels -100 for me, but I'll probably be dead next mission so

The timing was perfect though, less than fifteen minutes after we finished the last mission a pretty violent electrical storm entered the fray, lightning every few seconds, the first of a series of storms which lasted until about five in the morning.

It seems that JG 5 cannot maintain enough aircraft for all of us so it seems that me and Oberon are flying with JG 2 until those barbar...err, I mean, pilots in JG 5 learn how to not lose too many aircraft...

Great shots Kratos! It's always nice see glimpses of the action afterwards

Looking at those it's amazing I'm still here reviewing them, since #5 is within touching distance of me!
