at night with lights on. Man I wish it'd have a MP mode, it's very much 3D Close Combat if you ask me. And keeping up with my XCOM spam: when things go horribly wrong on a terror mission: (From ClosetYeti's LP) Last edited by Dowly; 08-13-13 at 02:31 PM. |

I have a a few really good screens of some night actions as German troops.I find though that looking at the screens they do not look quite as good of course you always loose a little quality with a pic. Also getting shrunk from 1680x1050 does not help.
EDIT: Ah ha I told PB to display original size. Now it should look better at lest less compressed and the link goes to a full size. Couple of shots from a night/early morning action you can almost smell the mist in the air and the forest. Sd.Kfz 232 Sd.Kfz. 251 covering a road intersection there is a soldier in the prone position in front of the tree. The intersection road is out of frame. German Pioneer squad MG-34 gunner and greanider armed with the Kar98 with the rifle grenade cup.Note three Russian PWs with hands on their heads ahead of the Pioneers. As I recall this was a highly successful operation The Russians had very poorly defended their capture points and had no AT guns or artillery.I think they had a unit of those Brit Bren gun carriers with the Boys anti-tank rifle but they got wiped out before they could even take any shots at my APCs.The rest where just standard infantry squads.I had two Pioneer squads and two Panzergrenadier each with a single 251 for support along with the single 232 I think I had two scout squads with the 250 halftrack as well. Of course you never know for certain what the enemy disposition will be sometimes holding out for the clock to run out is the only option. Last edited by Stealhead; 08-13-13 at 04:39 PM. |

Go ahead with larger shots, I go with 1024 or 1440 these days. Everyone got larger monitors these days.
I had a great convoy screenshot in this thread, but couldnt find. Probably 15-20 vehicles, all lights on. Looked great. Awesome it is. |

Yeah OS is a pretty fun game once you get past learning how to do everything.Lots of trial and error.I also like how it likes to kick your teeth in.
I am a little better playing as the Germans than playing as the Russians I am hit or miss and usually luck is what allows me to survive.Playing as the Czechs I really got creamed. I had one campaign where I held off a a German assault by managing to hold off the infantry the Germans had a few assault guns but I got lucky and they either got stuck or a golden BB wrecked their treads. One came charging into my position but he got stuck in slick mud and was not combat effective he sat there trying to get free trying to pull off the tankers version of the Scandinavian Flick good thing it was an assault gun with limited traverse a true tank would have just sat and turned his turret. That worked out perfectly as my AT guns where destroyed and I had no other AT weapons and those 14.5mm guns are only really good for APCs though you can pop a track from time to time. |

It's a (real-time) tactical wargame, Achtung Panzer: Operation Star.
I should probably give this game another shot, but I still can't stand the ridiculously low unit densities in the campaign...

I guess they did that on purpose to force you to not waste what you have. One of those games you either like or do not like I suppose.I like it but then I also tried Wargame:European Escalation and I just do not like that game at all.
OS is a huge pain to update though to say the least. |

are, but as I understand it, much of them (if not all) are in. I had played the older game years ago and I was right at home with this one. It ships with 3 tutorial missions and a 12 mission campaign, co-op mode and level editor are coming later. Versus mode multiplayer is included as well, though I havent tried that. The bad things I found are namely the graphics, they are quite dated. Price is a tad high too at 28 euros, but then again it's a WH40K game, got no problems throwing money at one. On a related note, found these two Space Hulk animations I found quite funny: |

"Don't run out of flamer ammo"
What are they gonna do? Make you restart because you ran out of ammo?

AIII has UAVs/UGVs now!
Do you want to tour Stratis but don't want to walk all over the place, or worried that you might crash your Ifrit, or too scared that the AI might kill you while flying from one place to another? Well never fear the Stomper is here!! That's right this six wheeled UGV will get you anywhere you need to go. Just grab a UAV terminal, click on the map and go! Note: one passenger per Stomper.
