Just wanted to compliment the FOTRS team on the revamp of the HEIAN MARU freighter. I had the original and it had issues maintaining formation when with other ships, holding a proper speed when alone, a lot of strange behavior and its photo in the rec manual left a lot to be desired. I added the FOTRS version (with tweaks for TMO) to TMO and just sunk it in April 1943 in a convoy. Worked beautifully and looked so great through periscope almost hated to sink it.
Conducted one of my best approaches and attacks from where target was detected submerged, approached submerged, and sunk submerged as convoy left the Tokyo Wan heading south. Closed to 1000 yards and sunk with three new torpex (modded hit points to reflect the differences in the warheads) Mark 14 torpedoes, and all of them performed properly for once lol. This was done without external cam or map contacts. Had to go to 100 fee to avoid a marauding airplane and mask the higher speed needed to make to close the range for a proper shot, which as know can be challenging. Wish I had the attack recorded, it was textbook. The escorting destroyers got their payback though, aside from flooding which took the Porpoise class (USS Pompano) to 541 feet before could gain control. Suffered hull damage and all four bow torpedoes damaged beyond repair. Back to Pearl Harbor we go. Ah well, least got 11800 tons of Heian Maru. |

i was assigned the Sargo with the MedWar conning tower, as expected. survived two war patrols and everything seems to be working as expected. i believe the CTD was caused by a funked-up savefolder. i remember downloading and looking at Flaminus Add-on for FotRSU 1.46. Part of that "look at" was creating one or more career starts to see what there was to see before backing off on the add-on and returning to standard FOTRSU 1.46. i suspect that the mix of different mods and the creation of career folders, even though i never went out on patrol, funked up the save area sufficiently such that my next mission failed at start-up. well, you live and you learn.

Fellow SubSim members, this is an afront to us all. jamesonmount has taken a quote from a fellow member, and altered it to put his phishing krapp links in it. This is NOT a quote of MM at all, jamesonmount is only using it for his "payload"... be governed accordingly. The post is reported.

Thank you, good sir! The use of another member's good stature by a spammer using that member's post for a quote is despicable and adds another level of disgust for spammers.

Issue: Multiple LMTs occupying the same space in the eastern anchorage of TawiTawi in June-July 1943.
Also random damage twice in one patrol: possible collision with coral heads? The second occasion occurred days after restarting from the last save in game time, maybe 2-3 hrs in real time. We were approaching the LMT above at periscope depth at standard speed when we took 5 points of hull damage with no other indications of any kind. |

Das swinehund "quoted" Mad Mardigan from several pages previously, and for his own actual post, complimented him on a good post - which seemed suspicious of a newly joined SubSim member, so looking closer, it was observed that the person had altered MM's "quote" and stuck a nefarious phishing link in the middle of MM's text, basically hoping someone would get curious and click on it. Hover over the name of it, and it gave it away. Definitely took the person a few minutes to do said editing. |

Is there anything new on the missing second crew slot for 40 mm AA upgrades?
After completing Balao's inaugural patrol, we installed the Bofors but the second crew position was not created. Wolfeinsamer's fix did not work and the other fixes in that readme do not seem directly applicable. Quote:

If it fails to properly add the position, there is a small mention of that in the Part 3 of that pdf. The location though of the AA guns begins in like "[UserPlayerUnit 1.UnitPartSlot 1.UnitPart.Compartment 2]" for the Aft gun position, Compartment 2 for the forward gun. After that follows the guns available and then the gun crew members, of which you might see "AdditionalRepository", or the position might be completely missing, if the position didn't "build" correctly. I don't understand what you mean with the "anything new" - have you had this before?
As for the "new feature", no, same old same ole... lol - I would say "charmed life". |

Nothing really stands out when reviewing the weapons and crew code, other than one section of [UserPlayerUnit 1.UnitPartSlot 1.UnitPart.Compartment 2] differentiates between 1 leader and 1 crew, while later sections such as [UserPlayerUnit 1.UnitPartSlot 1.UnitPart.Compartment 2.WeaponSlot 1.Weapon] refer only to two crew slots. Below is a comparison: <note: aft AA section> [UserPlayerUnit 1.UnitPartSlot 1.UnitPart.Compartment 2.CrewMemberSlot 1] ID=CrewMemberSlot_FlakL1 NameDisplayable=Flak Guns Crew Type=Leader IDLinkCrewMemberLoaded=OFFGun WatchCrewMemberSlot3D=WM1@slot_A01 BattleStationsCrewMemberSlot3D=WM1@slot_A01 WatchAccessoriesForAdding3DObjects=NULL WatchAccessoriesForSubtracting3DObjects=NULL BattleAccessoriesForAdding3DObjects=NULL BattleAccessoriesForSubtracting3DObjects=NULL <note: position above is occupied and crewman is described> [UserPlayerUnit 1.UnitPartSlot 1.UnitPart.Compartment 2.CrewMemberSlot 1] ID=CrewMemberSlot_FlakC1 NameDisplayable=Flak Guns Crew Type=Crewman IDLinkCrewMemberLoaded=NULL WatchCrewMemberSlot3D=WM2@slot_A01 BattleStationsCrewMemberSlot3D=WM2@slot_A01 WatchAccessoriesForAdding3DObjects=NULL WatchAccessoriesForSubtracting3DObjects=NULL BattleAccessoriesForAdding3DObjects=NULL BattleAccessoriesForSubtracting3DObjects=NULL <note: position does not display> |

[UserPlayerUnit 1.UnitPartSlot 1.UnitPart.Compartment 2.CrewMemberSlot 1]
ID=CrewMemberSlot_FlakL1 NameDisplayable=AA Guns Crew Type=Leader ...... [UserPlayerUnit 1.UnitPartSlot 1.UnitPart.Compartment 2.CrewMemberSlotAdditionalRepository 1] ID=CrewMemberSlot_FlakC1 NameDisplayable=AA Gun Crew Type=Crewman ....... change the orange code as "CrewMemberSlot 2". it works. |

Bingo, thanks! Myopia on my part, assuming there was only *one* mistake in that line.

Exactly flaminus. Thanks. btw, I mentioned "...UnitPart.Compartment 2] for the Aft gun position, Compartment 2 for the forward gun"... which of course, should be "Compartment 3" for the forward gun... sorry for the confusion from my typo. I am still studying the single 40mm gun. Did you purchase it, or was it a freeby after 1943-08-01?
