I know. It's nuts. I understand why they did (hot temperatures + tropical environment + morale), but it still blows my mind that someone actually implemented it back in the 1940s.
I can just imagine a sub running silent and then some goon busting out of the mess shouting "WHO WANTS SUNDAES?!?" ![]()
