Interesting question, OTH. I haven't experienced any drawbacks. I have my name and personal info, including my address, out there in plain sight. I meet with many people from the internet world in real life, it's no big deal to me. I think people overrate their importance, no one really cares. No one cares where I live, what I look like or my real name. Same goes for 99.999% of us.

Of course, I have the advantage of being the same person in real life that I am online. I own up to my opinions and statements. I have nothing to fear from what I say online if my real life people found out. Hey, that's me

Now, that's not to say some psychotic out there may not make it their mission in life to screw with me or come after me...but that could easily happen in a non-Internet world. For many years, most people had their name and address posted in the phone book. So, this isn't really new, is it?
