I suspected it was WAC, but wasn't sure. I have WAC 3.0 and must download one of these days 4.1, but I'm getting busy with other things and tend to forget it

You wont regret.

If I have to ever recommend something for SH3, I would recommend WAC 4.1

I have encountered an AI German UBoat before,I was rounding the coast just out of Wilhelmshaven and my watch shouted "sub spotted" .I panned the camera in and it was another German UB on its way home at high speed

That's really kind of you because Bob could use all the friends he can get.

You see, Bob has no arms and no legs... and floats real easy... just like all the AI U-boat captains.

Now you understand why the AI boats have such a hard time submerging in GWX.

They are all doomed... and that's the reason I always wave at them when I see them. Their work is quite under-appreciated.

So here's to all the "Bobs" out there!

Hang in there little buddies!

Grid was BF1414
What does this mean? I've seen this in some radio traffic also.

I've always seen grids called out as AM37, or BF27. What is it with the 4 digits?

In RL a further subdivision of the grid was used, to create even smaller areas of operation/location. BF1414 refers, IIRC, to sector 4 in sector 1 of quadrant 14 of grid square BF.

Pics and details here:

GWX has always had AI subs coming into the harbors. There's one at Kiel if you leave by the main entrance.

In the GWX Navmap screen you can pull down a grid map that has the subgrid chart in the lower corner. I use it to guestimate my 4-digit location when I write up my reports.

In SH4 UBM they actually give the 4-digit grids, as well as latitude and longitude.
