This is one of the greatest screenshots I have seen, looks very real, and you don't like it? Hehe that's interesting

hi everyone!
i tried rivaturner but it don't open correctly with my catalys 9.7 so i tried ati tray tool and played with all the options as lod map bias, AA and AF, don't change anything.
the lines on the sky come from the submarine cable, just to show you that my AA is on.
Effectively it is a cool picture very realistic but as i said it is disturbing when moving. i will try to make a movie on fraps just to show you the anoying noise

what you can change?

Ah, now I see.

The ants are to darken the light bits of the water, presumably. Is there something in the game grahics options to reduce the realism of waves?

Can't remember, and it's too early in the day to switch my game on. And you like the high graphics anyway.

Change the overall graphic resolution?

I've been no help at all.

I'm going to have to toss my hat in with Spectator here. Having spent a lot of time on the water I can say that that shot is completely authentic and makes my nVidia loving heart jealous because I see nothing like that. In other words, buy an nVidia card and your "troubles" are over. All it takes is cash! (as usual )

Reality is hard to look at too and much more so than what you call ants in your shot. Considering the limitations of our graphics cards for brightness and contrast, that is one of the most excellent representations of light on water I've seen on a computer. Its irritation value is a meek shadow of the real thing!

hi,
well it seems that there is no solution for Ati 4850's owner. however here it is some parameters coming from the mipmapbias detail:

following here is the movie clip demonstrating the problem (sorry for the poor quality) 16 mega, real environment mod.

Holy crap, that video is beautiful! That is EXACTLY the correct way for low incidence sunlight to glint off the water. The pointillism, the gold color, the movement of the points of light, it's all PERFECT!!! That is simply a magnificent depiction of the sun on water and I'm jealous as hell. My nVidia card gives the image you want, but it sucks compared to that.

Sorry but thats just amazing - wish I could get halfway near that level of reality on my rig! Seems to me one of the most details sea shots I've ever seen.

Those are not comparable images. They're too different from your original to make any decent conclusions.

Looks to me that PE or Real Environment works doubly well. Want to trade graphics cards for my 7600GT? You don't have a problem at all. That looks exactly as it was designed and as it should look. Hats off to the modders!
