Sabres, love them...shame they're a bit of a twitch-fest though.

Played with IL-2 a little while ago Here's some screenies.

On my way to taking off

Successful take-off, went without a hitch

Pretty smooth flyin', dunno how my machine gun got jammed

Failed landing, lowered gears too early and got the wheels ripped off then the plane nosedived.

Tried the quick mission. Quit because it kept stalling when I tried to turn (that never happened in multiplayer)
I agree with Obie, this is one damn twitchy plane.

Nicely done Geno, my first take-offs with the Korean war jets resulted in an impressive crater on the runway as I walloped my tail on the ground.

Really? o.O It was easy to take off Zipped down the runway without tipping over or anything.

Could have been the F-84 rather than the Sabre, but I do recall the first time I used a Korean war jet, I was caught off guard by the acceleration and allowed her to flip the nose up too high and smash the tail off.

Don't think so as the F84 has NO acceleration.
Without the additional rocket boost on one version you've got no chance to get it to take off speed before reaching the end of the runway. At least not with fuel and armament. The F86 on the other hand has a very strange flight model. Definitely not anything I would call realistic. maybe it's best you don't temper with the mod planes until you've gained some experience with the "real" aircraft as you might get used to their spoiled Fms too much and won't be able to handle a plane with a proper FM.

Hope this didn't sound arrogant and/or smartassy (is this even a word?)...well I could live with smartassy but still.....

Lol I see what you mean. I still mess about with the IL-2 and a few other non-mod planes. Still having fun anyway

I'd better catch some more sleep before the flight. It's 3:26am AEST

Well, that's because the F-84 had a special 'dirt-sniffer' in the intake on the nose that detected when the end of the runway was coming up and then took the brakes off. They didn't call it the Lead Sled for nothing. Still, it's a bit faster than the 262s I was used to, so that probably didn't help.

Maybe I should make that training mission a little easier.

Left engine hit by sam

Right engine damaged by .50 cal

Sam removes half the tail. Bailed out, plane kept flying on...

FAIL?! Rub it in, why don't you.
