Nonsense, the Dauntless can shoot down a Zero like any other plane. Sure, it might be harder because of how slow and unmaneuverable the Dauntless is, but the Zero will burst into flames from the Dauntless' machine guns just fine.

Eh, whoops, sorry about that, I put in that comment and meant to add my real reasoning after but forgot to do that

What I meant was that the Dauntless, piloted competently, could shoot down the Zero even if it's not distracted and without a lucky shot. There were quite a few instances where Dauntless pilots would shoot down enemy fighters that directly attacked them or their squadrons.
