August 5th 1940
Luftwaffe target: Shipping at Hellfire corner A number of enemy shipping reconnaissance flights were plotted off the east and south east coasts during the day; although convoys in these areas were reported no attacks on them developed. Raids approached Dover but were driven off with losses. Large formations patrolling the Straits and Gris Nez area was a feature of the afternoon. A raid approaching Dover turned when fighters were ordered to intercept. This was followed by four raids which formed in the Calais-Gris Nez area and approached Dover at about 0830 hours. These raids were plotted as a total of fifty-three plus aircraft. Four squadrons and one section were despatched to intercept and the enemy turned for home when our fighters were approaching. Two squadrons of Spitfires managed to catch up with the enemy; they claim three Me109s (certain) and four Me109s (probable); one Spitfire has failed to return. Later in the day other raids approached a convoy during its passage between Hastings and the North Foreland but no attack developed. CASUALTIES:

Red Two - 41 Squadron - RAF Hornchurch
Scrambled to meet incoming e/a over Hellfire corner. Lost Red leader near the coast, saw what I thought was Red Leader but it turned out to be another group of Spitfires haring after a group of 109s. Followed them to find some dormant 109s, took one down and then realised I was near the French coast so RTB'd Confirmed one Bf109 Landed at RAF Manston to refuel Pilots Notes: Could have saved ammo by reaching out and knocking the wings off the 109s with a hammer. Calm before the storm though... The not particularly inspiring briefing...kilometers...what non-Imperial nonsense is this...and why are there five thousand of them? Nope!
Actually Golf's missions were usually very carefully made. There was no spawning next to the airfield (at least no not intended ones) and you never found any waypoints that were off. He didn't stick to reality in his plane sets and locations and the AI was usually set to "piss poor pilot", but apart from that all his missions were actually working. So please give him at least a little credit for his work.

Indeed, this one deserves a special award for bad mission making. If any mission making effort even went into it, that is...

On the up side, it was historically accurate to a point, the planes were taking off from the right airfields (just not actually on the airfields ) and the squadrons were right which is more than some of the previous missions have been.

just a reference for a mission that's pissing of the player. not to point out there has been done a horrible job in mission building or such. just that certain things in the mission piss off the player HunterICX

Good mission design and awful mission construction?
I hereby award it the Ztalpflog award!

Alright, Alright...Oberon made clear that all the broken missions or things that annoy us in the mission is to blame on those Daleks!

Just a little heads up, I might not fly tomorrow. Got a pretty nasty dose of gastroenteritus, which is not much fun. Not much fun at all.
