Welcome to the club I only started "replaying" this a few months ago having been away from the game for several years, and it indeed was quite far from what it used to be.
Yesterday I think I btw finally learned to employ the Emil's cannons properly. Instead of opening fire at my convergence range of 150 meters, when a Hurri almost fills the gunsight, I held my cannons until the enemy aircraft literally filled the screen. Oh the carnage! The first attack was on a Blenheim which completely disintegrated in the air. The second one, on another sortie, was on a Hurri that lost its left wing from the root outwards. Third victim was another Hurri which disintegrated leaving only the cockpit falling towards the ground, while the fourth and final of the day(if Hermann's JU-52 is not counted ) was a Hurri that lost its engine and crashlanded. Flak took out my elevators and rudder so I couldn't finish him. Cannons Machineguns A certain Erich H. sure knew what he was doing by getting really up close and personal... |

Whenever I try that tactic I usually follow the cannon shells up with my propellor and cockpit. :hmm:

BTW the certain Erich H. also had to crashland several times because his plane got hit by debris from his victims. And the Hurri has a nasty tendency to explode after being hit by cannonshells. @Oberon May I ask how old your computer is? When I look at your screenshots it seems you are running Il2 at very low settings. In case your rig isn't at least five years old maybe we can do something about your graphics quality by adjusting your conf.ini . With better vision you also have a better chance of seeing the enemy. (although I have to confess that rammed several bombers at high altitudes too just before we started the campaign and that wasn't a matter of vision.... Hunter didn't know anymore whether he should laugh or cry when he heard in the TS that I had rammed yet another bomber...) |

It happened to me several times in Multiplayer where a player that attempted to ram me ended up dead with no damage to me

I think that card is from 2004, right?
That should be able to handle a lot more than what you have right know. How much memory does it have (I think they can have up to 128MB)? Maybe you should try these settings in your conf.ini: It's taken from an old conf.ini I used when having a Radeon 9800pro about 3.5 years ago. But if you try those make a back-up of your on conf.ini just in case this isn't working for you. Well, the first sortie we split to 4 Bf 109s, 3 He 111s and 1 Stuka (I think that's how it went), I don't know about everyone else but the 111s were ordered to destroy a bridge that's located behind our lines, I demolished the bridge but I got shot down by a Hurri since we had 0 fighter cover
The 2nd sortie everything went as usualy, I managed to kill a couple of Blenheims and RTB without crashing (Though others were not so fortunate) Now my stats are erased because I got shot down in the 111

1st sortie there were only four 109s, so Dowly, Raptor1 and I took He-111s to bomb a bridge that was on our side, while Oberon took a SSSSSTTTUUUKKKAAA. The target area was covered by clouds, so we bombed from fairly low level. After dropping the bombs we were jumped by Hurris, and Raptor and I were shot down while Dowly escaped. Our escort was elsewhere tangling with some Hurris and P-36s at that moment. The enemy fighters were quickly decimated, and debriefing revealed that both the bridge and an accompanying rail yard were destroyed(by Raptor).
2nd sortie we were supposed to pick up a few STUUUKKAAAASS and escort them to a target just behind the lines. We found the Stukas fairly quickly, but almost simultaneously four bogies appeared and a few of us gave chase. The bogies soon turned into enemy Blenheims, and just as we started the attack the Stukas, now just about above our base, came under attack by Hurris and P-36s. Hunter called everyone back to defend them, and our guys went to teach the enemy a lesson. I was(again) taught a lesson by the Blenheim rear gunners, and with a wrecked engine I downed one before turning towards home, succesfully crashlanding my 109 with minor damage(=it stayed in one piece) on a road a few kilometers inside our lines.
