IIJG53 mission action November 15 1943 north of Leningrad. Our mission was to interdict a Soviet column that was planning to cross the frozen sea to retake Kronenstadt:
The column was split into two sections. My wingman and I took the rear of the column whilst the other pair in our section took the lead column. I managed a close enough hit to take out 6 vehicles: A bunch of Yak's were then see headed our way after we avoided some heavy flak coming from Leningrad: We made short work of them but we were engaged by some P-39's They didn't last long either. Once finished there we headed for home. |

Nice of you to use your Nav lights so the Rooskis could see you better! (j/k). Nice shots.

The shots are from a co-op mission flown by IIJG53: http://iijg53.com/
The Nav lights are so we don't shoot one another down so they have a real purpose. In IL-2 AI can't see so lights camo etc don't make any difference to them but when you have up to 12 pilots in the air all on the one side it makes it easier to work out who to shoot and who not to. If you are interested the Aussie schwarm normally flies on Sunday nights at about 8pm AEST. |

Cheers Tarjak - good explanation! Thanks for the invite - I don't fly IL-2 much (though I have 1946). Do you use any mods, and what version are you flying with?

We use 1946 with a specially created mod pack for the squadron. Check out the site I linked above which covers all the details.

They definitely need to something about the ground textures.
Or is that with low settings or something? |

Medium. Large setting chewed memory like nothing I've ever seen. Was a treat to see, but I couldn't play like that.

To bring them up to what level? What flight sim has better ground textures? Sure they could be better but they are a hell of a lot better then IL-2 (as you would expect being a newer title).
@Biggles - Nice shots! I assume you are on the ROF boards as well.. what is your handle over there? I am Bleddyn, the annoying forum moderator. |

To the level one should expect them to be in a game released in 2009. If that's how they look on higher settings too, they are more of an step back than forwards. I also dont agree that they are 'hell of a lot better' than IL2's, they are pretty much the same. Blurry mess.

Well if you think IL-2 and RoF ground textures look the same, or even similar then we have a huge difference of opinion, but that's ok
I think the RoF ground serves it's purpose more then adequately, and I have yet to see better in a flight sim... now if they would just re-work the "zippers" they call trenches I would be fully happy with it. |

I agree, the planes look amazing but the ground textures... uhh. IL2 actually has better ones should you choose one of the user-made texture mods. I'll try to find some shots to illustrate this.
