How about pretty much any car sim. released in the last 2 years.
Dirt 2, Yep
NFS, Yep
F1 2010, Yep
Burnout Paradise, Yep
To quote one of my favorite tennis players, "You can't be serious."

You think it is wrong for me to compare SH5 (A SUB SIM) to flight sims and....get ready for it...NAVAL SIMS? I'm sorry, I was under the impression that SH5 was a Naval Sim. What was I thinking comparing a product to other related suject matter.

Let's go through your list, and add other car sims as well (since you opened that can o' worms, lol):

Dirt 2: Off road rally/racing. Takes place on small maps (comparatively speaking), and has nowhere near the amount of units, land mass, etc..as SH5. It also has overdone bloom/HDR. No thanks.

NFS: Nope, not in my opinion. It's also an arcadey type game.

F1 2010: Not out yet. All people have really seen are videos and interviews here and there. Same other issues as Dirt 2 above. Physics are also suspect at this point taking into account the team making it.

Burnout Paradise: Nope, not in my opinion. I honestly don't think it looks that good at all. It's also not even a simulator. *See NFS comment above*

iRacing: Nope.

GTR 2: Nope.

GTR Evolution: Nope.

RFactor: Nope.

Lets go into other simulators:

Railworks: Nope.

RailSim: Nope.

Trainz 2010 EE: Nope.

MSTS (with mods): Nope.

Anything else I am missing on the PC? lol

Clouds are 3D but look artificial. Moded ones look better.
Coast of Portugal (Giblartar mission) looks like Hungarian river bank .
...
Sea surface is great looking but... it must be that way. Sea surface is the same for all the parts of world... contrary to landscapes in these flight sims.

Explosions - no further coments...

I would say just average graphics all togather... except sea surface (but not under surface)

(I had occassion to watch the game... not only screens.)

If you don't mind me asking, what are your system specs, because I run all those games you mention at max graphics at 256ox1600 and none of them look as good as SH5. Well, it really depends on the value you put in each graphics category. Lomac/FC/FC2/DCS:BS all have funky looking dusk/night colors (that pinkish/orangish sky color kills me. lol

WoP, mentioned above, looks fantastic, however, zoom in close and the aircraft are not that high poly at all. The terrain/sky look georgous though.

FSX, even with the tons of payware add-ons I have, does not look as good, nor does it run as well, as SH5. FSX is fine for GA flight, but even then the terrain, cities, and pallete looks "off" to me. FSX does look good, don't get me wrong, but it also looks sort of cartoony...I am guessing from the color palette they use. FSX with REX/GEX/UTX/FS Genesis/etc looks really good, but something about it bothers me. I just can't put my finger on it.

I think Schmall said it best with, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." I still know people who think RFactor looks "the best" of any driving simulator.

Oh dear, SH5 is now £12.98 on Amazon.co.uk, although i'm not suprised with all the negative reviews on it's page. The game really is shocking.

...and they steel keep their natural buyers away - with DRM

They wait for price $9.99 to start understanding that both wide community and pirates don't care anymore about this title...

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust... once upon a time, a game called SH existed in PC world...

whats with the stupid "smilie"? you seem glad that SH5 didn't turn out to be a popular as SH3 at first release? seems a stupid reply
the same reply with a sad smilie, would sum up what most people feel about SH5, sad thats its not as good as first thought due to bugs?

To me though, they released it to soon, should have released it in another six months, after loads more beta testing? but that seems the way of most PC games these days ?

other than that, it has great promise, infact it already improved a lot with mods, and more patches to come

UBISOFT, PLEASE REMOVE THE DRM fed up of the game stopping ever time I lose my crap ADSL phone line connection

I wasn't putting the "" as any disrespect to the modders who have done an excellent job. The stock game is shocking is what i really meant. I'm just not that shocked that the price came down to such a low now, it was always on the cards with the DRM and all the bad press it's getting.

I'm disgusted at how much is broken in this game. It is disgraceful to have released it with so much content missing/broken. Why is that SHIII still shines through two subsequent releases (even vanilla).

One the other hand, the graphics are to die for. Have to take the good with the bad I guess! Fingers crossed for patching/modders to square away.

I had to...

Anyway. I'll look upon this game as I have with other games in the past. It's a great game engine with lots of potential.

Some day I'll be living my old AOD dream and actually walk into a nightclub and converse with the gentleman telling me there's a old VIIB still out there.

LOL...Steve. Watch it you might get accused for being anti-SH5 for that comment, or worse yet a forum snob.

Any chance of an SH5 Commander or similar program at some point in the future, or is the programmer (JScones?) burned out and tired of making them?

I know.

What I'm getting at is by allowing your character to walk in 1st person the possibilities are endless. This idea really woke up in my mind when I found out you could walk around in the submarine pen and talk to people. I almost had to clean out my pants. Not to mention they did that perfectly. When you end a patrol it still keeps the harbor loaded. I actually saw a ship explode for some reason outside while I was talking to the upgrade dude.
